Bottega Veneta Lizard Clutch

bottegalizardclutch3970.jpg

I was at a Bottega Veneta boutique the other day looking at the dizzyingly array of amazing Spring bags when I happened upon this blush lizard clutch and quite literally dropped to my knees, thankful that my birthday is this Friday. I looked sweetly up at my husband with the most adoring eyes I could muster and to my horror, followed by gut wrenching depression, he laughed at me and then shook his head no!!! How dare he laugh at and then deny me after I made a little baby girl for him from scratch? I can easily buy this bag myself, I’d like to see him try to make his own babies =) The ultra fem blush color and lady-like style perfectly matched with the chunky linked hardware demonstrates the design rigor we’ve come to expect from Tomas Maier. His genius continues to infatuate us. The lizard has so much texture but unlike python, it is smooth which is especially important for a clutch so that you don’t mess up the skin with the constant handling. I should probably practice what we preach and save for a Birkin instead, $3970 is hard to justify for a clutch when the price is only one bag away from a 32 Togo. 1. I can’t help but laugh everytime I see a post about Bottega Veneta. I feel like I have a twin in Dallas who was separated from me at birth! I did the exact move (adoring eyes looking at husband) for the Large Cabat Ottone($5,650)only to be laughed at. The irony is that my husband actually thought I was joking! And to think that I have created TWO babies (one boy & one girl) from scratch for the Mr!!!

    Keep posting about BV!

  2. this is my first post to your website. this bag is beautiful. so classic, feminie, subtly interesting — beautiful. i also like the other woven BV you showed recently (in the post on expensive bags). this is just amazingly beautiful.

  3. This is exactly like my new wallet, it’s a limited edition color, I also got the matching make up bag. Should I get Kelly one for her b-day since her hubby won’t pony up?

    heeheee

  4. I showed my hubby the photo of the pink BV in the magazines that you have waitlisted and told him that there were only 33 and it was only $2,000. He told me ‘no way.’ And I made four babies for him – one girl and three boys.

  5. that is hot. i wish you had shoe snob. their mocassins – with the coin purse at the toe for spring are killer in white and pink. i’ve tossed my tod’s for them. ultra-feminine, total luxe and unique

also, all of their sandals are just absolutely gorgeous. check out the white woven leather with gold thread.

i’m just loving the bags. they are absolutely timeless

  6. I WANT THAT BAG! It’s so feminine and classy and it would just match my pink suit. The ring detail gives just enough of an edge to keep it from being too cutesy!

And I feel your pain, sister…first my hubby told me “no” to a pink Vespa, then he pranced right out and bought himself a snowblower for a driveway that’s 90 percent covered by our cars!

  7. Love BV! But regarding the creativity of Tom Maier:if he is so creative why does he “quote” Roberta di Camerino designs so often? Do you all remember the little green or red velvet Boston bags of last season? I was trolling ebay for catch one for less and came upon a 1950s era Roberta bag that was the obvious model for it, like exactly the same!! only the color were different. HOWEVER, those lizard bags, like pleated, I, who now only has eyes for R di C bags (vintage, I own 12) are the only bag that comes even close. These are truly amazing.

  8. this clutch is to die for! i wish hubby would give me something like this coz he never gives me anything!! *sobs* huhu! i really like the color
