Monique Lhullier Fall 2007

Monique, Monique, c’est magnifique! Filipina-French designer Monique Lhullier strikes the Fall runways with another killer collection destined for the red carpet. Metallics continue to be strong for the season but none done as well as Ms. Lhullier’s exquisite designs. Even gold lame manages to look elegant with her magic touch. The glittering gowns are dazzling but I also love the austere funnel necked belted coatdress, it’s a surprising contrast to her otherwise glammed up collection and shows her range beyond wedding gowns. Those of you hesitating on the shiny frocks can test out the look with her metallic skirt, it’s not a big commitment and will update your Fall wardrobe.

Fall ’07 color palette: Metallic gold, gun metal, black, neutral cream and gray

Fall ’07 key looks: Red carpet worthy gowns, form fitting metallic dresses, high neck tunics and dresses. Opaque tights are a must have- my favorite is the Wolford Velvet deluxe 66 available exclusively through Wolford boutiques.

  1. Too right! The dress Chanel Iman is modelling (top set bottom left) will definitely be making an appearance in my wardrobe! I personally feel that Monique’s use of metallics has been the best of NY Fashion Week yet. In many of the shows, Monique’s included, I have been spotting many references to Paul Poiret, which makes me very very happy. Brook , London

  2. “Monique Lhullier”… I just love saying her name. This collection is full of beautiful shapes – I am particularly enamoured with the first two outfits, the gathering on that top is GORGEOUS, as is the pencil skirt, and that nude/gold is one of my absolute favourite colours for dresses, that’s a beautiful example. I think I even like the silver skirt!

    PS: You’re a 35.5? Hehe! You’re so cute.

  3. She’s not part French. She’s from Cebu in the Philippines. From what I know, the Lhullier clan have resided there since God knows when. In the Philippines, it’s pronounced “Lhulli-ER” not “Lhulli-EY”, because they’re not French at all.

  4. go monique lhuillier! she had a fashion show back in Manila Philippines! i love her designs and when i get married again (church wedding) i’ll wear one of her gowns

  5. Hi banana, That is so strange as I have read many of her ineterviews and she insists that she is half French ?!?! No matter, I lover her dresses anyway!
