Since “eco-friendly” products are so hot right now, everyone is producing something organic; however, babysoy started its own trend producing beautiful baby clothes from soybean fibers, a renewable resource. While that may sound organic to most of you, it actually is not. Soybean fibers are a sustainable textile made from leftover soybean dregs that would normally be thrown out, making waste into useful products. Different from organic, sustainable fibers emphasize the reusing or recycling of manufactured products. I can see many furrowed brows at the moment uncertain about the process of reusing “waste”. At first, I couldn’t help but picture leftover table scraps becoming a shirt, but I assure you the result is completely opposite and totally wonderful. The clothes are made from 50% cotton and 50% soybean fiber to maximize the benefits of both. Soybean has a silky luster, feels as soft as cashmere, and holds warmth like wool. Cotton allows moisture permeability and quick-drying, among other benefits. The clothes hold up well as long as you follow the washing instructions. Dryer heat can cause the clothes to lose softness. Even if you aren’t interested in the eco-friendly part, the clothes are adorable and very affordable.
