Phil & Ted’s Sports Buggy

I have been looking for an ultra compact double stroller – pretty much I want a single stroller that will fit both my kids. I have my bugaboo and bought the wheel board so my older daughter can stand while my newborn gets shotgun. But if I am by myself, none of it works, like if my older daughter decides that she is tired or sleepy, she gets the stroller since she’s heavier and the baby gets the Bjorn (fine if my husband if with me but not fine if I’m alone). Another thing my older daughter will do is jump off and run away. I can’t leave the baby alone but I can’t let her run off either. I need to invest in a double stroller because this has become a safety concern, even though I will only have this problem for a few more months (I hear when she turns 3 she will suddenly behave upon command, I have my fingers crossed but I suspect that I should have a backup plan). The concept of this Phil & Ted Buggy is perfect, it has a doubles kit that makes this single stroller fit 2 kids! The second seat can go in the back like a hammock (as shown) or in the front on top of the frame. This is perfect with newborns who can lie down flat on the main seat and doesn’t really care about the obstructed view. I thought I had found my solution and was so excited until I tested it out. Here are the drawbacks: 1. this thing does not collapse any where near easily and when it is finally collapsed, it is enormous!! 2. To make matters worse, the doubles kit is really hard to get on and off. I imagine it can be re-engineered to fit easier but the size of the stroller would still be a problem. So I guess it is back to the shopping trail for me. Stroller at Right Start for $399.99 and the doubles kit is $89.99.
