Do-It-Yourself Spa!

Whether you stay at home or work, all moms are busy! I had no idea just how busy until I had my son! And the busier I get, the easier it is to let things for myself go, like facials, manicures and pedicures. I used to get my nails done religiously, and now I just don’t have the time to go weekly. I still get facials, but I’ve also found products that I can use at home, if my facials aren’t as often as I like them! I rotate three treatments that keep my skin looking great. I do still get regular color and trims (no matter what!), but I like to keep my hair shiny and healthy with regular conditioning treatments. Here’s what I use and love:

Bliss Steep Clean 3.4 oz

If you’ve ever been to a Bliss spa, you know how nice it is, and the products they use are wonderful. I started using Bliss Steep Clean a few months ago, and it is great! I tend to have oily skin and occasional breakouts, and this product helps to keep my pores clear. It’s very easy to use. You simply apply and massage the product onto your face (make sure your face is cleansed and dry first), and then let it sit for 15 minutes. It dissolves blackheads and leaves the skin very clean, without drying it out. After rinsing your face, be sure to follow it with your regular skin treatments and moisturizer.

Philosophy The Microdelivery Peel

I am addicted to this peel! Seriously! If you only want to try one of these products, try this one. The purpose of this peel is to “resurface and replenish” the skin. It consists of two steps. First, you apply the bicarbonate vitamin C crystals to a clean, dry face and massage for 1-3 minutes. Next, you apply the lactic/salicylic acid activating gel on top of the crystals, and leave on your face for 1 minute. You will be amazed at how smooth your face is! This is a great treatment to use before an event, when your face needs to be perfect!

Philosophy The Oxygen Peel

This is another great Philosophy product. I really like it if I’m broken out, or my skin is flaky or uneven in appearance. It leaves the face rejuvenated and looking like you just left the spa! This treatment has two steps as well. First, you apply the enzyme gel, and then top with the oxygen foam. And then rinse. Your face will look luminous!

Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment 5 oz

While you’re waiting on your face treatments, it’s a great time to pamper your hair! I’ve been using Ojon products for a year now, and my hair has never looked better! To apply, you warm a teaspoonful of the product in your hands until it resembles oil, and then distribute through your dry hair and leave on for 10-20 minutes. The only caveat is, the product has a very strong, unusual smell. It doesn’t bother me, but it does bother some people. So you might want to smell the product at the store first to make sure you can tolerate it. If it does bother you, try another leave-in treatment–Sephora sells a variety of brands. I also wrap a towel around my head while I’m treating my hair, and that helps to contain the smell! When you’re done, shampoo and condition as usual.

So, ladies I encourage you not to give up all of your spa treatments, because it is important for moms to have “me” time, but if you’re really busy, try one of these at-home treatments—your skin and hair will be very happy!

  1. If you are a very busy mom, one way of still being able to have spa treatmet is to try some DIY spa. You can browse through the net for the different ingredients and just buy those essential oils and candles online.
