Mixing up Moisturizers: L’Occitane and Curel

Every winter I think — uch this cold weather, it makes my skin so dry! — then every summer I think the exact same think about the heat! Needless to say, the majority of my body care products are body moisturizers so, like shampoos and conditioners, I like to mix things-up when it comes to my moisturizers. Always a favorite though is L’Occitane’s Amande Firming & Soothing Milk Concentrate ($38). There is nothing that smells quiet as delicious (you’ll litterally smell the fresh almond scent through the packaging!). I just tried Curel’s Natural Healing Nourishing Lotion however and it’s pretty great too (and at $2.99-$9.99 depending on the size, it’s significantly cheaper). I was attracted by the ingredients which include lavender, chamomile, and oatmeal extracts, so I wasn’t surprised when I loved the smell — it has a just-got-out-of-the-shower soapy smell and it’s nice and greasy which I like. Unfortunately it doesn’t moisturize for as long as L’Occitane’s body cream and the packaging doesn’t exactly make me want to show it off in my bathroom (metallic blue, plastic), but for the price it’s better than most Neutrogena and Dove products I’ve tried (both of which don’t have the most appealing packaging either…though again at these prices, I cant really complain:)…).

Has anyone tried any other good moisturizers lately that would be worth trying out!?

My old standby is Eucerin. I use the intensive repair body cream when my skin is especially dry and now they have a everyday lotion with SPF 15, great for every day.

  2. I swear by Kiehl’s Creme de Corps. Leaves a nice sheen on the skin as well!

I absolutly love Crabtree & Evelyn’s Rosewater lotion. It works great! My great grandmother swore by rosewater, and she always looked at least half her age. This rosewater lotion absorbes into the skin so you don’t have that greasy feeling, and it leaves your skin feeling refreshed.

  4. Agreed that Kiehl’s and Eucerin are great (especially for those with sensitive skin…I’m actually taking a break from all products/makeup for a few days, because I got an allergic reaction to something –my eyes are all puffy– and I’m trying to figure out what..anyway I have a new appreciation for all non-irritating products)..that said def going to look out for the Crabtree & Evelyn Rosewater lotion (love rosewater…especially in sweets!).

  5. YOU DEFINITELY NEED TO TRY FREDERIC FEKKAI BODY BUTTER! IT’S A LITTLE MORE EXPENSIVE AT AROUND $60. IT IS DEFINITELY WORTH THE MONEY! MY SKIN HAS NEVER EVER FELT BETTER! IT IS SOLD AT SEPHORA AND NORDSTROM! LOVE IT!

I love Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream. It’s the only product that doesn’t feel greasy on my skin and I can feel my skin drink it up immediately. When I want a fragrance, I put a couple drops of essential oils like lavendar into it.

  7. I have the L’Occitane too, but I use it mostly for the scent, not to moisturize.

I swear by Gold Bond Ultimate healing skin therapy lotion (Aloe, heals dry problem skin).

It’s excellent for any kind of eczema too.
