Gerard Darel “24 heurers” Barcelona Python: Part Deux

IMG_2847.JPG

Judging from the comments of the last entry, all of you will go nuts (either love or hate, GD invokes great passion from you girls!) over these bags. I have to say that if I lived in Paris, I would hesitate buying a Gerard Darel bag, mostly because every cute little fashionista on the streets of Paris has one! But 99% of them have the leather version, so it does make me feel a bit better about my python. In any case, I don’t live in Paris– I live in a city where women have never heard of Gerard Darel so I can pretend I’m special every time I carry it 🙂 Anyway, the purple python above is 1200 euro, but the python skin is not as nice as my gray one for some reason. It’s kind of scaly and itchy. The ivory and natural python versions, however, are butter soft and feel like suede. These are only 880 euro. If any of you speak French, call my girl Maryse at the Gerard Darel boutiqe on rue de Passy– she might be able to help you. 33-1-4288-0111 More photos after the jump!

I love this one, it’s the softest creamy ivory color with a tinge of brown. It will go well in any season! It also feels amazing, the softest velvetiest skin ever! 880 Euro

The natural python hide is for an adventurous gal. There is a very sexy appeal to the organic python print. 880 Euro

  1. which one did you buy tina? the purple, the natural, or the ivory? i still think your metallic is the best.

  2. Hey Tina – I should make a list of what is a good deal to buy here in France and what is a very bad deal especially considering the exchange dollar/euro. For example when in France drink your self silly because the wine and champagne are great and really not expensive compared to the US. Buy Lacoste in the US only and especially online. Buy Longchamp in France, much cheaper. Buy Petit Bateau in France, way, way cheaper. Lastly, buy Gerard Darel in France during the sales which start next Thursday!! (probably my ivory, scary, python friend won’t be on sale though) snif, snif.

  3. Hi Tina,

Would you be able to know if prices Gerard Darel bags in Paris and in London is the same? My mom is leaving for London next week and I hope to ask her to get me one from London =). Thank you so much, have a great time in Europe.

  4. Monica, I asked about the sale and they said the python will not go on sale 🙁 And I agree, I never buy American brands in Paris. When in Paris, I stick with the French 😉 Gerard Darel is such a bargain here. In the US there is a site that is selling these python bags for $2700… mine was $1700 USD with the exchange and VAT return. Is that ridiculous or what? And the ivory one becomes around $1,100 USD but it’s also $2700 online.

widi- I don’t know if Gerard Darel is the same price in London but I imagine it is substantially more…

Hilary, I am leaning towards the ivory but don’t really want to repeat the bag…. I love my metallic and may be happy with just that!

    xoxo

  5. Love these bags! I believe only the first bag is a 24h Barcelona. The other 2 look like Saint-Germains, with smaller hardware (the studs in particular).

  6. If you go to the Gerard Darel website, they have all of the bags shown there (though no e-tailing for the US, sniff!). Most of the python bags each have their own moniker (“Utah”, “Monaco”, etc.), and “St. Germain” seems to be applied to the leather versions only.

  7. Sigh! I saw someone in Soho donning this bag today and it is AMAZING. The skin looks supple and lux (even through a glass window, I could tell). I am begging my boss (who has a pending trip to Paris) to pick up a bag for me.

  8. kind of reminds me of the big buddha melrose bag smaller but big buddha has it in a patent versus python very similiar look and of course a 1/4 of the price
