While in Paris, I spent a lot of time at the Givenchy boutique and I was besotted by all the cool bags, shoes and ready to wear that I had never seen in the US before. I am waiting for their PR to send me those images but in the meantime I stumbled upon this Saddle bag with Alligator harness…er strap. Is it me or do the straps look almost X-rated to you too? Seriously, the first thing that came to my mind was the get up that the Gimp from Pulp Fiction wore.The harness straps are confusing and I don’t know how one is supposed to carry it. I guess they were trying to be interesting but sometimes it’s best to just leave a simple saddle bag alone. And uh, it’s quite expensive for a plain bag with a scrap of alligator stuck on the strap don’t you think? Is it any surprise I did not see this in Paris? I always say the buyers of the Paris boutiques pick the best bags and I think this proves my point. $2,295 at Barneys New York. What do you guys think? Snob, Slob, or Gimp?
GIMP…..I would love to see who picks one up from Barneys….possibly more of a manbag, but even men have style these days!!!
Definitely Gimp. Is it the bag for those who fancy a quick bit of bondage on the way to work? You can imagine the advertising: “it’s so versatile. You can take the top strap off and lash your fellow commuter to the pole in the Tube”.

I saw the Lagon in Paris and it is going to be my next color. Turquoise is too close to Blue Jean for me… The Lagon is amazing, the color of the Mediterranean sea…… swoon!!!

I wouldn’t pay 500 dollars for that, let alone 2295. Just not my type. I’m all for original designs, but this is plain ugly.
Oh…and I’m pissed off with Givenchy. If they were going to name a bag after me (Diane 🙂 ) at least they should have chosen a gorgeous-looking one not this fugliness…:)
The bag itself has a nice shape, but those straps spoil it. They remind me of those old-time suspenders that buttoned into your waistband.
Not for me. Looks like my mother’s old “hand bag” but they added odd straps.
I just purchased this for $469 from barneys.com. The lines of the bag itself are nice. Will see what I can do to simplify the straps. If it can’t be saved, I will return it. I’m sure you’re not surprised it made the discount bin!
