Gwyneth Paltrow has certainly been making up for lost time since coming out of motherhood-hibernation. Snagging the Tod’s Fall campaign as its new face with a short film for Tod’s to be debuted in Cannes, it’s clear that Gwyn is baaaaaack!!!!!!! She said in a recent interview that she never misses a day of working out and even while traveling, she exercises with her trainer via the internet. Now that’s dedication– and it really shows, look at her legs! She also said it’s hard work to look the way she does (two hours a day 7 days a week) and that she does not wake up looking like this– especially now that she’s a mother of two toddlers. I love her candor, how many actresses pretend they never work out and that they roll out of bed looking gorgeous!?!??! (Jump for more!)

“Gwyneth effortlessly embodies the spirit of the all American woman with timeless elegance and modern flair – the perfect representation of the Tod’s woman,” says creative director Derek Lam and I couldn’t agree more. I am loving the Diamond lock clutch from Tod’s she is sporting here and those shoes…. oh my god I want those shoes….!!!

Gwynnie with Diego Della Valle on his yacht. I love that she’s not wearing any shoes with the floaty frock. Mario Testino photographed the campaign in Capri. The doctor bag on the right is the bag of the season. There are two pale pink crocodile versions, one destined for New York and the other for Dallas. $30,000 each. I’ll have photos of it soon!

  1. I have nothing against Gwyneth and she looks lovely in that ad but I can’t see her as my role model or someone who would make me buy products. Remember when she was obsessed with her diet? Apparently she’s a bit less strict about her eating habits these days so she has to work out. There’s nothing spontaneous about her,I can’t imagine her in the kitchen at midnight eating chocolate or just sitting in PJ’s all day, reading or watching dvd’s. Don’t get me wrong,I just prefer someone more ‘wholesome’

  2. I think the picture with the `doctors´bag looks real cool. The clothes are so matchy match. And the bag is not bad either.

  3. Maybe Gwyneth should put more work into choosing better shoes…those have to be some of the fugliest shoes I’ve ever seen and they look totally out of place with that dress – clunky, ridiculous gladiator straps around the ankles…she looks just as bad as she did in that poofy RL pink gown when she won the Oscar (which she shouldn’t have won by the way – Cate Blanchett should have won for Elizabeth).

  4. And Tina and Kelly, good job at returning to reviewing the comments you receive before posting them. Too many people were taking advantage of your kindness and now we will return to discussing bags and fashion in a polite manner.

  5. ManBag-you’re so right,I think she tries to be edgy, hence the odd shoes but it just looks revolting to me,that pink dress was horrible too and the Oscar was definitely not a deserved one. I am sure she’s a wonderful person but she is over promoted.

  6. Am I the odd woman out here? I am loving those shoes for some reason. They are so warrior like! but not with that dress.

As for Gwyneth, I find her a fantastic actress and a very sincere person from watching her in interviews. I have friends who went to school with her and they all say the same, that she has no pretenses and is a great friend. As for her fashion choices… I don’t always like her choices but I think she tries to take chances but comes up short (remember the awful black JPG dress with dread lock braids at one of the Oscars?)

And yes, definitely a bit obsessive about her weight but at least she’s honest about it 🙂

  7. You’re not alone Tina! Love the shoes! With the dress they make for an interesting and unusual combination.

  8. Agree with Mette about the picture on the right and her hair style reminds me of how she looked in The Talented Mr. Ripley. I loved that 50’s era movie for (Jude Law of course) clothes, the hairstyles and of course for Cate Blanchett and Gweneth Paltrow’s handbags!

She looks pretty classy which is a lot more than I can say about her best girlfriend of late, Madonna, who is doing a print ad campaign here in Europe for some phone company where she’s tongueing a whip. Very not classy!

  9. I like the shoes too, but I would wear them with way more casual outfits. I’m too ex-uburban to appreciate the studied ironic edginess I guess.

Hooray for honesty about wieght and the rotten hard work it takes to maintain the number and look you want.

  10. love the clutch. the shoes are studly! but agree with all not with the dress.

as for her obsessing about weight and such, what woman doesn’t want to her best?

  11. I don’t find Gwenyth Paltrow to be very stylish at all. Kate Moss is a much better choice she even made the Muse 2 bag look really cool.

  12. I love the shoes! I don’t understand how she thought they would look good with that outfit, but I both the dress and shoes would look good if matched with appropriate pieces.

Love her honesty about the work required to maintain one’s weight. And I must have that doctor’s bag!!

  13. Love the “doctor bag”, like the shoes a lot, just not with that dress. The stylist needs to rethink this look. I am a fan of GP and I do appreciate her honesty about all the hard work a body like hers requires.

  14. I also love the shoes..not with that dress though..(Tina U can so ROCK the shoes!!!) I really like GP, she looks good, Rach-that doc bag? I must have it as well…

  15. I like GP, she reminds me of Grace Kelly a bit, maybe because she comes across like a sophisticated person, but I think she kinda lacks the attitude. She doesn’t know how to sport her assets well.

Her fashion choices…no-no. I hated the pink RL dress at the Oscars. The dress in itself wasn’t horrible, but when you’re really skinny and with almost no breasts (I can throw that stone, cause I’m no better at that chapter either) do you really want to show CLEVAGE in a dress that doesn’t allow for you to wear a bra? C’mon!

And yes, I have to agree with the person who said that she wouldn’t be tempted into buying a product advertised by GP. True! She’s a good actress, but I would never go “OMG! GP has that amazing pair of trousers, I must buy ones just like those”. She was never a fashion icon and I doubt that she will become one.

As for the doctor bag – thanx, but no thanx. I don’t like it at all.

  16. Just checked the “it” bags. The Tod’s photos using Gwyneth as the “Tod girl” are beautiful. Her photos have never looked better. She makes me want a Tod bag and I have never considered buying one before. I also went to the Tod’s website. Will Saks be selling the “doctor” bag?

  17. Hi Lisa,

Saks should be carrying the doctor bag… will let you know when I confirm!

And I got a photo of the pale pink crocodile! Stay tuned!!!

  18. I too took a glance at Tod´s website and yes, both alligator bags are delicious. The rest of the bags-not so interesting. There are some classic shoes I like. I´ve had Tod´s shoes and boots before and the price is reasonable.

  19. I’ve always like Gwenyth Paltrow. Nothing to do with her acting or fashion sense or her diet. I must say a lot of celebrities has stylist to help them achieve a certain look. What I like about her is that she comes across as more natural looking compared to many actresses. When I was watching ‘Ironman’ I can actually see some wrinkles & freckles on her. Anyway, I used to own a Tod’s bag. If I want to buy another branded bag, I would probably choose some other brands.

  20. i think the shoes are great! they just dont go with the dress, a nice, tan straight-jacket and hannibal lecter mask would be just the ticket!
