When I had brunch with Derek Lam of Tod’s, he told me the bag I must have is the blush pink crocodile Dokt bag… what he forgot to mention was that it is a whooping $30,500. I saw this in person in the Tod’s showroom and it is indeed droolworthy and amazing. The croc skin is of course, sublime but beyond that, the bag itself is fabulous. Large without overpowering, it has a very old world and classic appeal. Very elegant in its distinctive casual way, in other words, very Tod’s. There are only two blush pink versions in the United States. One destined for the New York location and one for the Dallas boutique (I wonder if it’s a hint for me to grab it?). Now this is a tough one: The Tod´s bag or RL Ricky alligator bag ;which one to choose. Maybe as a compromise I´d take the light brownish Tod´s! Great bags .

Kats,I really don’t see where you get the similarity with Miu Miu bag from? It’s a nice bag but if I wanted to carry something similar I would rather go for Zac Posen’s ‘Aurora’

OMG! I absolutely LOVE the pink croc bag! I hated the doctor bag when I first saw it but in that amazingly soft pink it’s just…mesmerizing! I’m in love.

I am torn because my graphite croc birkin is promised to be delivered this Fall… and I just ordered an indigo crocodile last month!
So as much as I adore this and would love to have it living in my bag closet… I fear I will have to pass…

Is the tods blush pink croc a worthy investment or would you be better to invest in Hermes as they do truely hold there value?
I do not have a croc bag but would love one…I want to spend my money wisely so would love to buy a fabulous quality bag that I can pass onto my daughter hopefully one day!?

Anyway, to answer your questions–
Lina- Mulberry ostrich is lovely and very reasonably priced. I have the look book of colors on the site (look under Mulberry)
And yes, the brand does have an impact on the price but so does the craftsmanship and time taken on the bag.. for example– Hermes has a craftsman who’s sole job is to hammer down the ostrich quills to make it flat so it lasts forever. Now that’s a lot of effort!
by the way, I heard from the real Veronica Gledhill today and spoke to her over the phone, she was horrified over the comments made by the imposter and I am working with her now to further track the ip address of the person. She emphatically stated that neither herself nor Vogue would ever attack another editorial entity such as Bag Snob.
She was lovely and very nice.

I also live in UK, as you’ve mentioned, Kate Moss and Kirstie Allsop (don’t worry US gals if you don’t know her,she’s a tv presenter) have popularized Bayswater greatly but I do not own a single Mulberry piece because I see Bayswater as a Hermes knock off and will not hear otherwise from anyone.They also have an absolute ridiculous pricing strategy-can anyone tell me why a leather Bayswater costs £346 and a plastic keyring £295? (!!) Surely,something must be wrong? Or is it just me? So I probably won’t be buying that ostrich version,I doubt it would keep it’s value-correct me if I am wrong but I just cant see people going crazy for it in 10,20 yrs time…
Lina- agreed. I used to have many Mulberry bags but sold them a long time ago. I am so fed up with their Bayswater bag, which pop out constantly in different colors and different materials. Seen in person it isn´t of very high quality and so the price is not justified IMO either.

but you have, dare i say it, enough birkins. this bag is HOT! i will definitely make it a point to see it in person while i’m in new york. if it’s anywhere near 40cm i will be maxing out some credit cards, because i think i’d rather have this than the HAC.

And I will get the Dokt bag, in one of the versions above… you will have to wait and see! As for the birkins, I have every color in leather, now I am only doing exotic skin. After the two crocodiles I am done. I also have many Kelly bags, a Lindy, multiple clutches, a Bolide and half a dozen wallets. It’s hard to buy other brands when Hermes offers so many varieties — all at impeccable craftsmanship!

I saw in Grazzia UK version this week the stam Marc Jacobs bag in purple Ostrich…what do people think of his bags….I know he is not liked for some of the things he has done with LV?! Are the jacobs bags good quality as i liked the look of that bag!
