Anya Hindmarch Vigo: The LBB (Little Black Bag)

anyasnakepython.jpg
We all can use a LBB (Little Black Bag) in our bag wardrobe.  Okay, so the black python Vigo shoulder bag from Anya Hindmarch is not so little (in fact it is bit big for me but it’s black so I think I can get away with it) but it sure fits the same bill as the LBD, meaning it will go anywhere, fit any occasion!  I have more colors than the rainbow in my bag wardrobe and want to calm down, go dark and subtle but being me, I still need a bit of naughty fun which the python skin gives me!  Maybe it’s because I am in Philadelphia, this is not a place you want to run around in with a white crocodile bag unless you don’t mind it getting scuffed up (which I did getting out of a cab)– but this black beauty is looking really good to me!  The Vigo has easy to open top flap with magnetic closure, stylish oval chains connected with little hoops, and a comfy shoulder strap.  The soft pleating also distinguish it from just another hobo and of course multi-pockets to keep you organized (which Anya’s been known for since making her bags out of paper when she was a toddler!)– I saw this at the showroom and it’s really supple and gorgeous!  Anya Vigo Python Tote $2,495 at Net-a-porter.com  Kelly and I will be viewing new bags from Anya next month in NYC– so excited and can’t wait to have another glass of bubbly with Anya herself again 🙂

  1. I am SO jealous! Anya Hindmarch is my number one favorite designer – hands down. When I heard about the Target line…my heart skipped a beat. When you drink the bubbly with Anya – please bring us all back the details!

  2. i really like this, although am constantly frustrated that $2500 is the new $1300….

also this typo cracked me up: “unless you don’t mind it getting scuffed up (which I did getting out of a bag)”

i can see you riding around in giant bags with wheels, like cinderella and her pumpkin, lol.

OMG- am so tired did not realize I wrote bag instead of cab. You all know where my mind is 🙂 Thanks, kamo– for catching that typo! I know what you mean, $2500 is the new $1300 but the economy is not catching up at same rate. xo, Tina

  3. Really? Because for this price you can only get a small Chanel made of deer skin. For a Chanel python you’d drop at least $6800 for that CC. And who cares about the CC logo anyway.

This bag is exuding with style and panache. With that tiny little bow that is Anya’s mark. I am a huge Anay fan. And after reading the last post with all the comments ending in a happy Anya customer, I am even more happy with the brand.

Lucky girls to hang out with Anya! Give her a big hug from one of her loyal fans and tell her she looked gorgeous in Bazaar this month (or was it Elle? can’t remember but it had all of Anya’s travel must haves)!

  4. I love black bags and this would be perfect since it is exotic. However, the SIZE is gigantic (again!). Just a bit smaller and I would take it at that price…

Eme mentioned Anya doing bags for Target. As much as I love “designers” trying to hit all price points, the bags do not live up to the designer name. I’ve mentioned it before – the Gryson bags at Target look like crap. The whole reason I save my money to get a designer bag is so that I don’t turn around and see everyone with it. Ugh! Just this weekend I saw three people with the EXACT same Coach bag. It made my eyes bleed. If designers want to have a larger market, then the craftmanship should be on par with their premier line.

I’m probably asking for too much… oh bags, how I do love you…

  5. Hi Robyn,

I have looked at Anya’s handbags and they look nice this just seems to be a high price for her line. I guess that is do to being python. I can always justify spending this amount for Chanel because they are so classic and always very well made. If I am going to spend that much I always feel Chanel is worth it.

  6. Hi Lori,

Let’s agree to disagree 🙂 I have many Chanel bags and after a while, they all look the same (wait, because they are the same!) But Anya always offers fresh designs, which makes her bags collectible in my opinion.

But again, to each its own!

    Cheers!

  7. Hey ladies…thought I would add my 2 cents. I just bought the Vigo in python & it is simply amazing. Comparing the overall bag to a non-Anya python I purchased this summer, it is so supple and has a metallic sheen to it that is simply STUNNING!

I think what is so refreshing with Anya’s bags are not only their durability & design, but primarily how unique they are. I appreciate how she doesn’t “flood” the market with her various styles. Her customers stand out as individuals…pretty cool & novel if you ask me 🙂

  8. Am a great fan of Anya bags- its design, durability, practicality and fine craftsmanship.Have a few of her bags- small elrod, the kennedy, the large nevis…

  9. Hi, I’m new to BagSnob but would just like to say that I finally bought the Vigo (encouraged further by the positive comments here!), in gold, and it’s gorgeous. It’s my first exotic AND my first gold big bag, and compared to other designers’ exotics, I think the price is pretty good. Yes, you can get a Chanel, but if you already have a Chanel classic then this exotic would be a justifiable purchase over another Chanel.

I love Anya bags, and the Vigo is my 7th Anya bag, and each Anya bag I have is a fresh design over the previous. Even as I bought the Vigo, I am already eyeing the beautiful new clutches!
