Braccialini Crocodile Possum Porcupine Bag: Snob or Slob?

crocpossom.jpgHello all, it’s another Fug Monday here at Bag Snob.  I don’t like Mondays (I am, however, a fan of Thursday-Sunday!) and to top it all off, today is a rainy and muggy hot Monday.  Yuck!  No, I was not at the zoo today nor was I bonding with little animals in the woods.  This is an actual, uh, bag– made of crocodile skin (what a waste!) from Italian design house Braccialini.  I tried calling their rep in Italy but of course it is August and everyone in Europe takes off for the month so we’ll have to wait until September to get the full skinny on this possum.  I imagine it took a lot of labor to cut each strip of crocodile to little tiny points, which by the way, must hurt like hell if carried against your bare skin.  Ouch!  I can’t wait to read all of your takes on this strange little creature bag.  Snob or Slob?

  1. hahaha!! this reminds me of a gag gift i gave my best friend a few years bag – a stuffed armadillo bag (basically a stuffed animal with a handle.) her cat would freak out when it was around… lol.

the possum bag (opossum?) is heinous, obvi.

  2. I have no idea if it’s a hedgehog or a possum but it is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen! lol

  3. what, now that hollywood starlets are sick of lugging their princess and fifi’s around in designer luggages (can you imagine getting your precious pooch out of the bag so he/she can do his/her “business” on the ground so your LV dog carrier won’t be dirtied?!), it’s now a trend to make your bag into your pet? nice.

  4. how weird. what has the bag world come to? who in their right mind would carry such a thing? maybe if i went hunting in the forrest and wanted to get eaten by a bear.

  5. I think that must be the worst bag y’all have ever had on here, difinitely slob! And out of all the animals they could have made this bag into why a possum? Ew it’s just gross looking.

  6. braccialini bags sucks here in italy – they claim to produce or manufacture sculpture bags but they’re just fugly. only people with a poor sense of style or a big sense of humor i’d add, buy their bags. thank god we have better options down here.

lots of love from italy bagsnobbers!!

  7. And might I add it will be an awfully good defense weapon if you ever get attacked. Just ram those sharp tips into the eyes of your attacker and run!

  8. holy moly, someone get a cage for that thing! i think if one carries this purse out in public it’ll sure make kids cry.

  9. Somebody has definitely gone insane when they designed or accepted the design for this. Either that or they were on a wacky combination of drugs.

  10. This is an interior design object. Cute, but really not suitable for handbag use. I don´t think anyone would even think of toting with one.

  11. after pondering this some more i have decided that though i would never carry this, i would would consider a shagreen clutch shaped like a stingray… lol.

  12. What is most tragic is that that bag has ruined beautiful croc skin that could be used to make beautiful croc bag . . .

  13. I just heard from Bracchliani’s rep in North America (how they found us is beyond me!)and they would like to have a “word” with me regarding my “snipet”. For the record, the bag is the Porcupine pig bag, not possum nor hedgehog.

As for the photo– a bag snob reader gave it to me.

Am actually curious to hear what they have to say about the bag!

  14. The little critter is definitely smiling! Heard from their pr again, apparently they have a sense of humor about all this and would like to send us a full press kit of their “crazy” bags (in their own words).

I am glad they don’t take themselves too seriously. Stay tuned for the full report lovelies!

  15. kamo kamo kamo

once again you make me smile. would you like to guest blog once in a while, for fun? that photo of the armadillo is priceless! hahahaaha

  16. He’s kinda cute. Very eccentric, but better than another logo-centric piece of designer debris.

My grandma would love him— but she would never spend over $25 on a “pocketbook”, so perhaps they are designing at the wrong price point 🙂

  17. “snob or slob?”

…do you even need to ask?! I don’t want people to think that I want my accessories to look like they’re still alive…

  18. glad to make you smile, tina 🙂 if you’re serious about the guest blogging, that could be fun! will i get to review other zoo-themed bags? haha.

  19. This also looks like the tropical fruit, durian. It is a complete waste of good croc skin. The croc did not ‘die for a worthy cause’!

  20. It is FABULOUS! I make handbags and can certainly appreciate the work. Animal theme accesories are rare and this one has tons of personality. Try pricing animal themed fine jewelry and then decide how “roadkill” this may be. All the more for me…yay! Go get a fabric Coach bag and be like everyone else.

  21. I love the bag!!!! my loving husband bought me the bag for our anniversary. Its gorgeous ! a lot of work went into the bag,the quills are very soft. There is tons of room inside the bag.easy to carry. The hedgehog is more like a sculptural piece of art. its more impressive in person. The Braccialini store in London was very nice not snob like at all.expensive??…….yes it was very expensive ..but if you love hedgehogs as much as I do then you will love it. Its different and unusual compared to the other high end bags. it stands out in a crowd. :O)

  22. This is NOT made of real crocodile skin!! It is croco print leather. And it is beautiful. I got mine from Italy, but their is one for sale right now on ebay.

  23. this bag is striking, cheeky and beautiful (not to mention original)! It is made for the individualist I think, not for people who want to melt into the background. Besides I just love some of the other braccialini bags in their current collection especially “brigitta”, “maya” and “tamara”.

  24. I got to visit this bag while I was studying aboard in Italy. It is much better in person. I really wanted it but it was way to pricey for me. But I still love it!

  25. If anyone would like a budget version of this little guy, head over to Jojosboutique on FB click like and get 10% we also sell other less unusual but still stunning bags 🙂 xx

  26. I was looking for a Brac bag for my aunt and came across this forum. This was the Bracciliani Hedgehog B3232. My aunt has it. She doesn’t wear it though. She considers Brac bags to be works of art and has many of their most unusual pieces situated throughout her house.
