Dresses with Pockets

Selma Blair at the premiere of The Sweetest Thing — How snob does she look especially compared to those awful slop outfits that Cameron Diaz and Christina Applegate are wearing! — jeans with a dress??

Though it has already been a trend these last few seasons, I’m loving all the runway looks I saw for Spring 2009 with dresses that had pockets, mostly because when I’m awkwardly waiting around somewhere, something about being able to put my hands in my pockets makes me feel more at ease. I still remember back when Isaac Mizrahi had his own show on the Oxygen Network, he designed a wonderfully chic cocktail dress for Selma Blair to wear to a premier and he added these little pockets – those pockets MADE that dress. I was able to dig-up the old episode where you can see Isaac as he works on the dress — how adorable is Isaac!?? Check-out some pics of dresses with pockets after the jump!

Alexander McQueen Lace panel coat dress, $3,680

Alexander McQueen Kimono belt sheath dress, $1,713.75

Zac Posen Textured Suiting Pocket Dress, $1,700 — this dress is super cute (perhabs a smidgen too short, but beautiful nonetheless, why the Saks stylists paired this with black stockings though, I have no idea…).

Oscar de la Renta Doubleface Wool Dress, $1,990

  1. I adore pockets, especially when they are perfect. So often I am disappointed by a bad angle, or the wrong weighting of pocket fabric by the designer. Not much is more frustrating than perfect slimline pants or dresses with gaping pockets.

Sleek, slight angle, just placed a little inward of my hips and I am there. Anything else always adds pounds in the mirror.

    The right pockets are brilliant.
