The Magic of Mackage

I was shopping with friends the other day and one of them looked at me and laughed because I had about 3 coats on my arm and was trying them on in front of the mirror. She said “you are such a coat girl but you never get to wear them in Texas!” Sigh… she is right of course– I have a vast coat collection that has creeped to the closets of two guest bedrooms. Even when I lived in LA I bought multiple coats each season. I just can’t resist a fabulous coat! My latest obsession are Mackage coats; they are structured and gorgeous with amazing details such as leather corset belts and stand up collars. They also have the cutest puffy coats I have ever seen, I’ve always loved puffy coats for New York winters but hate looking like the abominable snowman– Mackage has amazing fitted puffy coats trimmed in fur you’ll look fabulous while staying warm. (Jump for more!)

The brand was created by two childhood best friends and has gained an audience of celebs and fashionistas worldwide in the last few years. Sold at Bloomingdales and Saks or check the Mackage website for a wide selection and and sizes (starting at XXS!) The prices are also reasonable (wool and puffy coats are under $600, fur and shearling average $2200).

  1. Funny you posted this today. I just bougt the Nissa puffy coat from Mackage. I need a puffy jacket for freezing and snowy Chicago winters, but I hated all the puffy coats out there. I have been known to take my daughter to school and walk the dog in a floor length shearling. Silly, but fashionable, right?! Now I can finally wear a cute puffy coat and not ruin my nice coats.

  2. I love Mackage! My favorite winter coat is from them — simple, fitted black with great leather easy chic:)

  3. A note for Canadian readers:

These coats are actually cheaper if you live in Canada! And we’re the ones who need coats the most, too. I’m in love. ♥

  4. WOW! Be still my beating heart… they are so fabulous! Thank you for bringing them to my attention Tina. They are ideal for the cold and rainy Irish weather! How hot would the Tessy belted coat be with the new Marni leather platform block heeled boots! Oh how I LOVE cold weather dress-up!

  5. I just bought a beautiful black wool Mackage coat with the most exquisite leather detail from Off 5th for $225 (original price $640)! I love that coat more and more, with each passing day.

  6. Hi, I’m thinking of buying the Mackage Nissa coat. I also HATE all the puffy coats on the market. My question is how bulky is the Nissa? I’m 5’3″ and don’t want to look like the Micheline man. Is the Nissa really puffy?
