OPI – You Don’t Know Jacques!

OPI_youdon'tknowjacques.png

The hottest nail color right now is this grayish taupe from OPI. When you see it, it will look muddy and mousy but it looks so incredibly chic and soft on. It also works for all skin tones, my 2 girl friends and I all used it on our lunch and manicure outing and it looks great on all of us. I’m Chinese and my friends are Mexican and British, so we span the spectrum of skin tones and it is damn impressive that this off looking color would work for everyone (not that these 3 races include everyone everyone, but you get the idea). I have to say, I was the one poo-pooing this color because I am pretty conservative when it comes to nail colors – red toes and nude fingers, so I have to give credit to my girlfriend for insisting on trying this out. I mean, isn’t that what friends are for? =) You will see this color on a lot of magazine editorial shots. Dark is in! OPI You Don’t Know Jacques! from the France Collection $5.49 at Amazon.com.

  1. I checked out this color when I was in for my cut and color this morning. I am going back this afternoon for my pedicure and will have this applied on my toes. The manicurist said that it is ugly in the bottle but looks really nice when applied. I would have never tried it without your review because I am the same way – buff on my hands, and red on my toes. I will let you know what I think! Thanks.

  2. Ladies, be sure you go to flawlessfingers.com. They have a nail polish applicator which has a guide that prevents polish from coming in contact with you skin. I’ve used it and it’s great especially w/ dark colors.

  3. I LOVE this color..after I went to the MAC Hello Kitty preview event I was convinced that this kind of taupe/gray would be the new it color! Calvin Klein makes a nice one as well:)

  4. I’m totally on the gray polish bandwagon as well, but I picked Metro Chic from OPI for Sephora as I loved the purplish tint it gives. It’s a lighter choice and it’s super pretty.

Oh, and we love your blog so much that we’ve linked it from ours at http://www.lapretty.com. Check us out sometime.

  5. Love this Kelly. Thank you so much for recommending it. It is such a departure from what I usually wear. I am even sporting sandals today so I can look at it all day long. Thanks for pulling me into this season. Have a blessed holiday.
