Valentino Glamorous Tote

I would not get this bag mainly because it costs money, but if this somehow magically appeared in my closet, I would have loads of fun toting this around. I know, I have said nothing nice about all those ridiculous Valentino floral bouquet creations (and of course the sickly fringey one from yesterday) but this one is charming and pleasing to the eye. All the petals are made from cut out leather but it looks so light and delicate. I expect someone to make a comment that their grandmother would love this but that’s what adds to the appeal, like how homemaking (ie knitting, sewing and cooking) is so en vogue now. It’s like we’re so past all that so we can rest in the comfort of societal acceptance and just enjoy whatever activities we want, however backwards and mundane we all thought it was. This bag looks like you are carrying yarn in it but who cares! Wear this with something sexy and you are rocking the grandma look and demolishing outdated notions and stereotypes. And besides, it is not that old lady-ish. You get 2 totally different looks by folding down the corners. At Neiman Marcus for $2995. Yeah, like I said, this bag is only cute and useful if it does not cost money.

  1. agree with you–fun if it were free:) Do you think the Nuage Valentino in bronze is still ok? I just received it and i need to know if you think it’s a keeper…

  2. I’ve seen this bag plenty of times on line and in Bergdorf’s and Marsh’s (Huntington, Long Island.) I think it’s adorable and would buy it in a heartbeat. However, I am keeping my resolution of only buying classics in this economy, and a very few of them at that.

  3. I love it! Something about the multiple nude shades of the bag and the petals is strangely appealing. I would definitely not complain if it was gifted to me!

  4. …I also think that this looks like dandruff / shingles / etc. under a microscope. It’s pretty gross… If it was given to me, I would burn it.

  5. This is adorable! Could be the most popular woman there with this purse-everyone will want to know where you got it….and the price;make sure Hubby is out-of -range but have the smelling salts handy-just in case.

  6. I’ve seen this bag in person and it’s HUGE. I thought it might be the sort of thing an overzealous, blinged-out new Mother would use as a baby-Moses basket for Easter Sunday, or perhaps the blessed child’s Christening. Not good.

  7. I OWN ONE EXACTLY OF THE SAME COLOR AND IT IS VERY LIGHT THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT I ALWAYS WORRY IF THE EMBELLISHMENTS WOULD COME OFF BUT OTHER THAN THAT ITS VERY BEAUTIFUL AND ROOMY

  8. These petals aren’t made from leather but rather from plastic discs like they used to sew on ice-skating costumes! I think there was a grey version that was made out of leather. This cream bag has a leather base and plastic embellishments.

  9. It’s amazing! I saw this bag at Nordstrom and I’ve got to say, it’s more practical than you think. The SA showed me multiple ways to carry it and how functional it can be when needed. I wouldn’t carry this as an everyday bag, but I would carry it as my “wow- look at you-you’re incredible-so high fashion” kind of bag!! I adore it, it’s stunning, artistic and romantic…
