Snob Essentials

Be still our hearts (and wallets!) Topshop lands in NYC!

When I was in London I indulged in Highstreet shopping. Topshop was my #1 destination because I’d heard so much about it. Unfortunately most of the items were similar to Forever 21 but luckily for me, there was a Kate Moss section full of cheap and fun clothes fashioned by the style icon herself. I bought a grey leather jacket that everyone covets and tries to buy from me– it’s distressed and has a bit of pleated ruffled detail– very Kate Moss and very mine. I am excited about Topshop landing in NYC although now everyone will have it. But as a wise woman once told me, “stop being such a snob, fashion is for the masses!” What do you think? Are you excited about Topshop’s landing stateside?

Topshop will open Thursday, April 2nd at 478 Broadway near Broome Street in Manhattan.

  1. About 5 or 6 years ago when I walked into the Oxford Circus store not knowing a thing about Top Shop I was really surprised at how great and CHEAP everything was, especially for London. Now, anything thats a bit original is expensive for the teenage market they’re aiming to please. I have seen a bit of Kate Moss’ Top Shop collection at Colette. Not bad.

  2. Love Kate Moss for Topshop. I think I have the same leather jacket, mine is dark charcoal. Nina Garcia owns it as well! I am really excited about her liberty print summer dreses for Top Shop.

  3. Yes I’m excited! Topshop does some terrific designer collaborations and does a lot for local designers in London. I hear that they are choosing NY designers for collaborations, too, which should be exciting for recession-weary shoppers with designer taste!

  4. I think Topshop is a little overrated. I shopped there when I visited London just because I couldn’t get the items in the states…but seriously, other than the collaborations, forever21 is just as good!
