Bag Snob Exclusive! YSL Easy Tote with Studs

ysleasystud.jpg

I put the YSL Easy studded bag under our Fall Trends article as a must have for Fall and it seemed to be everyone’s favorite bag of the feature. I requested the image from YSL and did not get it in time for the article (my SA at Bergdorf had to take a pic with his iPhone!). However, I finally received this image today and was told the YSL Paris office shot it just for Bag Snob. Now if that doesn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy inside I don’t know what will! I wonder if they’d agree to shoot a Kate Moss for YSL Bag Snob campaign. Won’t hurt to ask 😉 Anyway– back to this fabulous bag, I love the flat studded hardware– it’s subtle but makes a very powerful statement. Look how the light dances off the strategically placed flat studs. The logo Y is also less noticeable as part of this design, genius! The duffel shape is casual, timeless and functional for daily use. It is no wonder YSL is the King of Bags! Seriously, this is WAY better than the Coco duffel from Alexander Wang. The leather, the stud detail, on trend without being trendy. It’s a bag that you can use for many seasons past this one. The size is 14″x9″ and retails for $2,395. Yes, it’s a bit pricey but there is a lot of workmanship involved and as they say, you get what you pay for and in the case of our beloved YSL– the best studded bag of the season. It is not available online anywhere, you will have to call YSL in Beverly Hills to order– 310-271-4110. Or call 212-988-3821 if you’re on the East Coast. This is sure to sell out, call now!!!

YSL also available at Saks.

  1. I also LOVE the flat studded hardware. LOVE!!!!

I gotta tell ya T, I was so excited to get the AW studded bag, but when I saw it in person I was very disappointed to say the least—I also passed on it…

    XOXO

  2. Although I like this bag a lot, I realize that it suits best someone younger than me. YSL is going strong!

  3. I am not into the heavily studded looks, but I like this bag. I was on the wait list for the Alexander Wang bag and also passed on it. I am surprised at the price of this YSL bag they are usually a little more reasonable. If I were to get a studded bag this would be at the top of my list!

  4. Just fyi for anyone who’s interested (since I can’t afford one myself, sob!), it looks like it’s available online through farfetch.

  5. PASS – just another logo bag that would sit on the shelf once the studded accessory trend fizzles. Bought a black leather studded belt for 150 euros in April, that’ll do me fine.

  6. Tina! I twitter-ed you about this bag!! The studs come in both silver and gold – but the gold really pops against the gorgeous black leather!

  7. I LOVE studded bags and have ever since I saw Sonia Rykiel’s studded ones over 15 years in Paris when I was a poor backpacking youngster:) That said, I’m a little torn over this bag. The leather is great, but i agree with Metscan, it may be too trendy for me:), plus the big Y seems a little too much. I will have to see it in person when it comes to the stores to make a final decision. Ping..p.s. i was never crazy about the AW duffel, and this YSL is much superior

  8. tina, i was so disappointed with the AW bad too : (

i was really looking forward to checking it out (and buying it!).

not too sure about this YSL. the handle is too long and stiff.

  9. Sorry I disagree–the wee Wang and I were love at first glance. Heh. Lucky enough to find and afford (thank you, extra job!). I love love love YSL, but I prefer the classier shapes (Muse, even the amazing Mombasa of years past). Less keen on YSL in a logo duffel, just as I wouldn’t necessarily want a Chanel tote when the 2.55 was on the table (and ditto whoever gasped at the price…). I mean, from the legacy of le smoking, those mondrian dresses…more structure. Lanvin can do satin and patent gym pants (ostensibly), but that’s part of their new flirtatiousness…otherwise…eh…Ok phooey enough from me.

  10. Did I say Lanvin gym pants??? I did, didn’t I? Ha. I meant gym BAGS. BAGS. Those droll duffels? Ribbons and satin and the like? Egads. This isn’t PANTSSnob, it’s BAGSnob. Lordy. Nothing like a strong opinion voiced with a rupture of absurdity.

    pantspantspants.

    pantingly yours

  11. Also, just to prove I’m (grins) open-minded: looks like MyTheresa.com has the full-sized version ($2373). There’s a nice picture too–so you can see the size. Enjoy.

PS: Thanks, Miss Bag Snob Tina! xo

  12. How is a giant studded “Y” subtle or understated? I hate logos personally. Also, the shape reminds me of a gym bag. Just my opinion.

  13. tina i thought you rated the easy bag a slob about half a year ago… changed your mind now?

I love the easy bag, but not this one with the studded Y logo.

  14. The studs are a bit childish for me, but this season, the Y crest has mesh metal on black leather, which looks pretty (maturely) lethal.
