Derek Lam Kashmira Clutch

dereklamkashmira.jpg

Is Derek Lam on fire or what? His is one of the strongest bag collections of the season, every single bag speaks to me! A good friend of mine in New York asked me to find her a leopard bag recently; she works in PR and has a packed social schedule. derekkashnira2.jpgHer specifics were “something cool, in a simple shape and for use from day to night”. I immediately thought of the Kashmira clutch from Derek Lam. I tote around my Elsa python clutch while shopping in the day and at night for cocktails. Derek’s urban and edgy clutches are generously sized without being monstrous, have functional multi-compartments to fit the million things we need and always have a feminine and whimsical touch– perfection? Pretty damn close. The Kashmira clutch is made in Italy of hair calf and is 15″ x 15″ (unfolded as a tote) or 15″ x 7.5″ (folded) and is $1,295 (a bargain considering its size and multi convertible use!). Call Wayne to order and for more info– 212-966-1616 or email him ! I ordered mine already and plan to wear it with my white Derek Lam dress with chunky gold jewelry.

Derek Lam Kashmira Clutch also available at Shopbop.com

UPDATE: Derek Lam also made this clutch in a luscious taupe/grey suede version for those of you who are too timid to do jaguar. It retails for $990 and has the same dimensions! Call Wayne 🙂

  1. Bag Snob,

You ladies always have the best reviews and you bring us such informative info, we are so lucky to have you. Before Bag Snob there was no strong daily trend reports just for bags!!!!

    THANKS A MILLON!!!!!

  2. I have to agree with Stephanie.

this review, like most by Tina and Kelly, is spot on. Most leopard bags are gaudy but this one is chic and elegant. Did you enjoy DC? Saw on your twitter you went to one of my fave restaurants. Have a safe trip home Tina!

  3. There are many bag blogs now, but none with bagsnob’s experience or voice. Your reviews are well written with wit and humor, I’ve been logging on daily for over 3 years and remain a devoted snob!

And I love the clutch, really hot!

  4. Hi!

I’m working with The Women’s Mafia Social Club and we would like to extend you an invitation for an exclusive event on September 9th. in NYC. It will be a curated group show in the home of the President of Finesse Diamonds. The fashion show features several independent designers who are looking to work more closely with stylists.

Will you be able to join us?

For any further information, you can access our website – http://www.womensmafia.com/?p=1129 – or send Marcy an e-mail – marcy@womensmafia.com .

I hope to see you there!

  5. Even if I had the money to buy this and did, it would not get much use. Hand held bags have to be super cool to bother with and this is just “eh” and kindof OK for me, but as someone who can only afford luxury bags once in a while this would not be part of my choices. Its OK, but not anything I would waste my $$$ on. Not useful enough. BTW, i am a bag designer and work for other people so I have designed a lot of things, useful and not so useful..and this falls under, “cool but not so useful”

In this economy its all about “user friendly”

  6. Reply for the last post….. I think if you are not cool enough, dont even bother to buy this, hand held bags has a whole other level of coolness. Talking about function, how this bag not functional when there is 2 compartments plus a little interior pkt?

Stop hating when you keep coming with the unattractive design which no ones cares, show us something of what you have done, lets have a open discussion about it, than you will see you are not even in this level…… This bag is not for you, for someone who is edgy and cool : )

  7. Tara

I have no idea if you’ve had formal training or if you are a good designer but Derek is not only a Parson grad but is recipient of multiple awards including CFDA and accessories awards.

As a designer myself I know the single cardinal rule is you do not bash another’s work especially in a public forum.

How insecure of you and quite tacky.

I find the bag interesting and beautiful. Well done, Mr. Lam

  8. From the looks of it, I haven’t held the bag, it looks good

but I would be worried about the calf hair since they tend to bald in places at least in my experience

I personally prefer the suede and I would be v. happy if the suede had the same texture colour combination as the calf hair

But to be honest, and worries aside this is the first animal print pattern I like

  9. Well isn’t what this forum is about is people able to leave their opinions about different designer handbags? The whole bag snob blog was built on the idea to critic or praise different designers and the different bags on the market, so why is everyone slamming someone else for their opinion on this bag? That is the whole idea of the blog in the first place? So if you don’t like a specific designer handbag you are now tacky or insecure? huh? The whole bag snob blog is about liking or disliking different designers?
