A Scent by Issey Miyake

ascentbyisseymiyake.jpg

This newest scent by Issey Miyake is one of the most pleasant I have experienced in a long time. I fell out of love of perfumes a few years ago, pregnancy had something to do with it but also, I was always freaked out when I smell the same scent on someone else. I feel like my personal bubble has been invaded! So for me, less is more when it comes to scents. And nothing is more minimalistic than Issey Miyake, just look at the bottle! A Scent by Issey Miyake is so light and airy, it has floral tones but is not powdery floral, if that makes any sense. Not to be mean, but to get my point across, I am going to throw it out there – it does not smell like an old lady. There is also a little fruitiness to it but it is subtle. But the most interesting note is the woodsy quality, smells like plants and leaves rather than the flower. I guess that makes sense because it is inspired by the Japanese country side. Well, they did a damn good job creating that feel because I totally get it! Not out in stores yet but look for it in Fragrances at Sephora. I like being one of the few with it now – I guess I’ll have to switch if this scent catches on =)

  1. i too love very simple fragrances… and what a gorgeous bottle! i really enjoy the simplicity of it. i’ll have to check this one out! the woodsy undertone sounds very intriguing to me…

  2. Like you, I had swear off perfumes for a couple of years (no matter what Coco Chanel says). I’m still trying to find a fragrance that will make me fall in love again.

  3. I purchased this as soon as I smelled it. It’s light, feminine and unique……..A real must for those with some individuality. I hate these mass produced (and dare I say it)………… common, chavvy and celebrity fuelled perfumes that are either overpowering or fade to insignificance in minutes. This is a real scent for those who can appreciate all it’s individual components. It’s a scent that is individual and gets you noticed for being that little bit different.

  4. I love this scent, too. I am sad about that this has to be a ladies fragrance 🙁

One thing more by Mr. Miyake is that he puts this scent in a social context. I like that thought.
