Without sounding redundant I’m just going to say that the over arching theme this week is about the ultimate modern woman – rugged and soft at the same time. And rugged is still beautiful, sexy and 100% feminine. Carolina mixed fluid silks with coarsely woven linen and raffia, like the stone rope weave linen jacquard strapless gown (1st pic above). The silhouette is loose and relaxed, draped and cinched at the waist to give form. Surprisingly she has really casual looks. But honestly, who goes to Carolina for day looks? Even if they are super fancy glamorous shorts. I would have a hard time finding an appropriate occasion for that even though I have no reason why I couldn’t wear it to work everyday. I’m just saying, it is a hard sell and the boxy cut can be difficult for most bodies. We want the gowns! And the gowns are gorgeous as always. Triple layers of chiffon and embroidery not only sounds amazing but on the runway it swishes and slinks down in true glamour domination. Even the tea-length dresses are sexy and forgiving. The draping makes the rest of us normal looking people feel less conscientious and the hip hugging curves with full skirt hides what we don’t like and enhancse what we don’t have. The palate is muted with soft colors like the “end of a summer’s day”, amber, rose and caramel.
