Kelly Osbourne in Marc Jacobs Fluorescent Tweed Bag

For everyone that commented that I categorically don’t like Marc Jacobs, I wanted to share the bag above:-) Surprisingly it’s only $995 which is relatively low for a bag not part of his diffusion collection and besides MJ’s signature lock the Marc Jacobs Fluorescent tweed bag ($995) is somewhat of a departure for the designer in terms of handbags (though it’s totally in line with the 80s-inspired fashions he’s been designing lately). I don’t like the strap that this bag comes with, it makes it look like a shrunken messenger bag, but as a roomy clutch I would totally wear this bag. It’s great for all of us who love Chanel tweed and the classic Chanel 2.55, but want something a bit younger and in the case of the 2.55, more original. Plus I love that the neon stones are kept to a minimum and have been gold-stained to subdue them (there’s also a bit of neon thread woven into the tweed which makes the fluorescent tiles blend in well). My vote goes to Snob!

What do you think about Kelly Osbourne’s MJ? Snob or Slob?

DO YOU LOVE IT OR HATE IT?

  1. Personally, that is for ME, this “snob” bag looks like some kid just vomited bubblegum of various flavours on a this already, TOTALLY, forgettable bag. Err, Sharon, if you would like to showcase a “great design” by Marc Jacobs, I don’t think this bag would be a good example for it. Just my, you know, two cents.

  2. I am a HUGE Marc Jacobs fan (clothes and accessories), but this handbag is ugly. Take off the hideous, cheap looking jewels, and it would look a whole lot better. The patent trim makes it young and fresh.

    A complete and total slob.

  4. at first i thought ewww seriously? But then I could see so many 80’s throw backs that this would be perfect with. Plus how cute would this be with a LBD to make things pop? its definitely a young purse but its perfect for mixing things up, especially if you want the rock n roll but cute vibe like kelly is going for.

  5. Its a little bit punk, very youthful. I think with the right outfit it could be very edgy. Sharon I think you hit it on the nose perfectly-the intricacies of how the florescent was used is the real genius of this bag. I wouldn’t call it a youthful Chanel bag though…Its more like an anti-Chanel bag. A sort of rebellion against the Chanel conservatism.

  6. I don’t know that I would buy this bag, but it does have appeal. I bought the MJ Safety Pin Stam earlier in the year. It has the same appeal in a more subdued way.
