Snob 2010 Golden Globes Awards

Snobbiest Dress Destroyed

chloisevigny.jpg

Chloi Sevegny in Valentino

Such a great dramatic dress, especially sauntering up to the stage to collect her award! You know she’s in love with her Valentino by the way she reacted to having her dress stepped on and ripped by the usher. But not to worry, she had backup for the after party – probably planned anyway. Most of their gowns got wet and we all know what that smells like. By the way, Dick Clark Productions couldn’t afford to tent the arrivals knowing it was going to rain? Budget they say? Ridiculous. Cut the food, no none is eating anyways.

Snobbiest Understated Gown

Reese Witherspoon in Giorgio Armani Prive

Not the most ostentatious gown to wear to a televised event but everyone there appreciated her perfectly sculpted navy Armani Prive. It looked like it was poured on her.

Snobbiest Color, Just Not on Her

camerondiaz.jpg

Cameron Diaz in Alexander McQueen

I’ll give it to her for Snobbiest Coordination with your Umbrella but when it comes to candy apple red, you have to have the right skin tone, which unfortunately Cameron Diaz does not. I love the gown, it is sexy goddess come to life, but she just couldn’t pull it off. Also, the rounded shoulder pads just made her head look really big, matching her theme of candy apple.

Snobbiest Unwitting Wardrobe Malfunction

Christina Aguilera in Versace

The one nude leather boob just looks like a….. boob. The rest of the Versace gown is very Christina Aguilera, it’s just odd and hard to pretend that it doesn’t look like some sort of slippage.

Snobbiest Preservation of the Body of All Time

sophialuaren_redcarpet.jpg

Sophia Loren in a recycled gown from her closet

Wow!! Well, I can certainly see why she revived this gown from her closet (she wore it last November in London). Who cares how many times she’s worn this, after 40+ years in the biz (she’s 75) she is over the fuss of the petty faux pas. What’s more important is, this legend and sexy symbol personified has kept up the most amazing figure imaginable. And I bet she eats pasta every night!

Snobbiest Plastic Surgery

mickeyrourke.jpg

Mickey Rourke

Maybe you call this the worst plastic surgery but I am still traumatized by how he looked at last year’s Oscars so this certainly is much improved. He doesn’t look exactly human and I doubt the word “natural” ever came up when speaking to his plastic surgeon but I am no longer cringing and there is a slight glint of the hottie when he was younger (much much younger).

Snobbiest Run of Good Hair

jenniferaniston.jpg

Jennifer Aniston in Valentino

There is a lot to be said about a woman who knows exactly what her best assets are. Last night she displayed both flawlessly – her consistent good hair and perfectly maintained legs. I just want to know, how did she keep her hair from falling flat in the rain? Was her hair stylist her date?

Snobbiest Look Off the Runway

Sandra Bullock in Bottega Veneta

It is really too bad she couldn’t strut down the red carpet (hard to avoid all the umbrellas) because the way this fluid gown flows is what makes it the best runway look of Spring. When I saw this dress I knew it was destined for the red carpet.

Snobbiest Rain Coverup

quentintarantino.jpg

Quentin Tarantino

I’m hoping he wore this knowing the weather conditions. This is some sort of Japanese Samurai “tuxedo” but in the rain, it looks like the perfect formal poncho.

Snobbiest Quirky Gown

Drew Barrymore in Versace

Yay for the win for Grey Garden!! Love that movie (and the documentary). This Versace is the perfect fit for the slightly off centered Drew Barrymore. Still appropriate for the occasion but the spiky sequin shoulder and hip structures shows off her superabundant personality.

  1. Sandra Bullock looked amazing. I had no idea that this was Bottega. You should also post the photo of the back of this dress. Simply gorgeous. Jennifer radiant. She’s taking really good care of herself and it shows.

  2. Great article! I like all the commentary, except for Aniston. Hair-hanging-in-the-face is a tired look, and her black gown looks funereal next to everyone else in fab colors. If that’s her “look” she needs a new one.

  3. I loved January Jones’ look that night. I also think Carey Mulligan’s (?) make-up was gorgeous. You’re right about Chloe Sevigny’s dress.

  4. Wow, Jennifer A looks good here– in another shot, her hair looked like a wet mess! She looks real good here. It just goes to show that photographs can be deceiving. Case in point– Christina Aguilera. She had one side of her gown covered (the nude boob)– that was the shot taken with Cher. And she actually looked nice there 😉 But not in this photo! Chloe is gorgeous, and Reese’s gown was so “fluid”! I love it on her!
