Beyonce in ‘Let Me Eat Cake’ Tee

The “Let Me Eat Cake” tee ($77) from Wildfox Couture that Beyonce was photographed in recently is an obvious reference to Marie Antoinette’s famous “let them eat cake” line, but I wonder if Beyonce opted to wear it as a reference to the recent weight-gain scrutiny she has been under. I’m hoping she’s wearing it as a statement piece. We need more healthy bodies out there in Hollywood and Beyonce is one of the few celebrities that genuinely seems proud of her curvaceous bod. Ironically Christina Aguilera, who has undergone similar scrutiny, has also worn this shirt. As someone with a monstrous sweet tooth, I would wear this shirt, but I don’t understand why in the world it has holes on the side!? The holes, while intentional, don’t look that way and I don’t see the correlation with what is written on the tee. It’s a pity because I love the message and the cake pictured!

DO YOU LOVE IT OR HATE IT?

  1. Hi Sharon

I too love some of Wildfox tee’s but am utterly confused as to why they have to have holes in, I throw tee’s out as soon as they hole!

Is that a quilted nightingale bag I spy?!

  2. I think since it a reference from the Marie Antoinette period, the holes in the tee that reads “let me eat cake” represent what the peasants would be saying to the queen, hence the raggedy holes.

  3. Yes yes! Givenchy..do you like it? I’m not such a fan…I keep thinking of Marc Jacobs everytime I see it
