Frugal Snob: Calvin Klein Fall 2010 Buckle Shoe & Ankle Bootie

While perusing through the goods at last week’s Calvin Klein (non-Collection) preview for men and women, I fell for these shoes. They’re sexy, utilitarian and, because this is the brand’s White Label, very affordable (a publicist said they’d be priced at around $150 or less). Two versions are available: the Sallie ankle bootie (shown in kid suede in graphite) and the Cassie stiletto pump. The only thing I wasn’t keen about was the fact that each buckle says “Calvin Klein” at the base–albeit ever-so-faintly. For those who aspire to the gladiator or “tough-girl” aesthetic, this is a great way to enter that arena without breaking the bank. Pair these with leggings, a leather miniskirt or cropped trousers and you’re good to go! Remember, at the end of the day, the clothes make the woman. But it doesn’t hurt to have a kick-ass pair of shoes to stand on.

Available end of July at Macy’s stores and www.calvinklein.com
