Missoni’s New Handbag Collection Designed by Margherita Missoni

As Margherita Missoni proves, it helps to have a tight circle of close girlfriends–made all the more sweet when they happened to be among the most stylish and photographed young ladies in the world. It’s no wonder that for her first collection of handbags since becoming the accessories designer at her family’s label (she also serves as brand ambassador), Margherita turned to her posse of trendsetters–Eugenie Niarchos, Tatiana Santo Domingo, Lauren Santo Domingo and Coco Brandolini–as icons of inspiration. The results are a capsule collection of bags that reflect a youthful, fun-centric spirit that encapsulates each PYT–and the same can be said for the Missoni brand, which has in past seasons made a noticeable effort to appeal to a younger generation of fashion types.

The “Euge” patchwork multi-pocket shoulder bag, which mixes the Missoni signature zigzag with nappa leather, suede and crocodile, is the most expensive at $3,140; the “Tats” red handbag in wool star lace knit with crochet chain strap is more grown up and priced at $1,390; the “LSD” green quilted leather bag with crochet chain strap, at $1,275, is simple and uncluttered (save for the adorable pom poms), and the two incarnations of the “Coco B.” are named for Margherita’s most refined and elegant friend. The $1,480 “Coco B.” small green shoulder bag is also fashioned in wool star lace knit with a crochet chain strap and optional $185 pompoms while the $1,320 “Coquine” is a longer, crossbody sister version, also available with detachable pom poms. All available at the Missoni Boutique in New York (212-517-9339) & Beverly Hills (310-246-3060)

  1. I’m sorry, but these are nothing special. It just banks on connections and the gimmicky “inspired by” names. Ugh *rolls eyes*. But then again, shows how far you get in the world by connections

  2. This just shows there are way too many bag designers today who has no idea what they are doing. But i guess if your family owns the fashion house, you can do whatever you want. I see no need to add this to my collection.

  3. the design is great, but maybe they`d have an even better effect on the market if they had it in bolder colors 🙂
