eBay recently launched a new fashion channel and to celebrate it celeb stylist (think Scarlett Johansson and the Olsen twins), Annabel Tollman hosted a small dinner at one of my fave NYC restaurants/bars/hotels, The Crosby Street Hotel. In addition to the visual changes to shopping fashion items on eBay, Tollman and a slew of other style experts have made videos to give shopping tips and share their take on the latest trends. The most exciting thing I learned at the dinner however is that, in the coming weeks, there will be a new app coming out for iPhones where users can take a picture of themselves and then click on something they see up on eBay and drag it over their stock picture to see how it would look on themselves…how awesome is that!? I hope other website catch on to this too. If so I might just have to bite the bullet and ditch my Verizon Blackberry for an iPhone! I was also able to get some tips from Tollman about shopping vintage (she’s a vintage shopping fanatic!). See her suggestions for what to buy new vs. what to buy vintage on eBay after the jump!

“Clothes, in general are like putting a cake recipe together. Buying new is similar to creating the foundation for your recipe (i.e. four eggs, sugar). These pieces would include examples like: white tank, white shirt, black shift dress, black pants or suit, pencil skirt).

Vintage would be similar to adding the sprinkles and cherry on the cake. Think accessories/special additions that make you excited to get dressed in the morning like: vintage belts, clutches, hats and jewelry.”

SPRING/SUMMER TRENDS ON eBay
· Floral (Florals are great for spring but they can get too girly, pair it with a chunky belt and shoe to offset the sweetness)

· Military (limit to one piece, juxtapose it with something girly like a floral belt or a twirly skirt)

· Lingerie (for real life, always pair a lingerie item (corset/bustier/tap shorts) with flats and sporty items like a heather gray tank to offset the sexiness for everyday wear)

· Denim (faded color or denim jackets with jeans)

· Jumpsuits – anything from Halston-esque (can be super glamour to military coveralls)
