Julianne Moore in No.6 Three Strap Clog

My first thought was, “Gee, Julianne Moore looks nice in her Pierre Hardy for Gap wooden sandals.” Upon closer inspection, however, I discovered that they are not from the American retail giant, but rather a small, Manhattan-based boutique called No.6 in Little Italy. In this picture, Moore is sporting the three strap clog that looks more like a chunky wooden sandal as opposed to what one would think of when picturing a clog. But Moore is indie enough to make it work; it’s definitely for a girl whose aesthetic is more Bohemian and relaxed than Upper East Side socialite.

Founded by Morgan Yakus and Karin Bereson in 2005, the No.6 collection began with a basic clog boot. For Summer 2010, No.6 updated the traditional shoe with microprints, vintage fabrics and variations in shape and soon found themselves on the well-shod feet of bold-faced names like Maggie Gyllenhaal, Ginnifer Goodwin and Agyness Deyn. A staple for the season, the clogs are available in a variety of colors, materials and heights. All bases use natural wood and since they are handmade, can accommodate special fit needs. Customers can also choose from the various No.6 heel heights and fabrications, essentially allowing for full customization ability.

$245, available at the No.6 Store (6 Centre Market St) and Web site (www.no6store.com)
