Summer is a popular time for weddings and of course for honeymoons! This means time for love, romance, sightseeing and no time to fuss and fix your hair. Honeymoon hair needs to soft, romantic and quick and easy to style.

Honeymoons by the sea and sand, work great with today’s messy hair trend. Start with clean dry hair. Hair can be blown dry, air dried or set in large rollers. If you are starting out with smoother hair, apply a texturizing product that creates a clean textured look. Pick one that has good-for-your-hair ingredients and improves the condition of your hair. Try Tela® Beauty Organics by Philip Pelusi® Beach Hair. Apply a dime to nickel size amount depending on the length of your hair, distribute thru hands first and then apply to the hair starting at the ends and finger styling and scrunching as you move up to the root area. Take hair and pull back as if to put in a ponytail but instead wind hair around itself to form several knots, 2 on either side then 2 -3 on the back and clip into place. Let set while finishing getting ready and then release hair. Apply more product and finger style if needed. Remember less perfect hair is more perfect here! If hair is wavy or set in large rollers, simply apply the same product and scrunch and dishevel hair with fingertips until waves and or curls look more separate and less need. (Jump for more!)

The new fishtail braid trend is the perfect solution for controlling messy, out of control at-the-beach honeymoon hair. This look can be created on either wet or dry hair, but hair needs to be at least shoulder length or longer to get this look. Apply a hair groom with an SPF to protect the hair and scalp from the sun and help control texture, detangle. Apply to wet hair and then comb thru with a wide tooth comb. Hair with salt and sand in it can be very difficult to work with. Next part hair into a low-side part, either side is fine. Comb and gather the hair into the nape area on the opposite side of the part. The fishtail look is low braid that starts mid-shaft on the hair. Next, section the hair off into 3 sections and braid in a downward motion, applying more product as you need to. To keep the look modern and grown-up, keep the braiding loose. Once you get about 2 inches from the bottom of the hair, tie it off with a hair band. Try Tela® Beauty Organics by Philip Pelusi® Guardian SPF 18. Keep hair in a braid at the beach but after the hair is completely dry either leave it in the braid for a quick-turn-around style for going out to dinner. Or remove the braid and shake the waves loose for a tousled evening look.

Romantic dinner out and need a quick yet elegant style? Put your hair in a perfect ponytail or chignon. Start with dry hair. It is certainly ok to work with clean, dry hair but second day or later in the day hair is actually easier to work with. Clean hair is often more slippery and harder to control. Mist hair with a resin free and powder free dry shampoo. If hair is smooth and straight, mist hair and brush thru with a soft, natural bristle brush. If you want a fuller ponytail or chignon style set the entire head in hot rollers with a light holding product or scrunch dry hair into waves with the same type of product. Try Tela® Beauty Organics by Philip Pelusi® Dri Shampoo and Tela® Beauty Organics by Philip Pelusi® Natural Brush. If hair is wavy or curly, finger thru curls for a messy ponytail or chignon or brush thru with a flat or domed boar bristle brush for a smooth look instead. Brush and or gather hair back into the nape of the neck. Gather it to one side of the nape and secure with a hair band. It helps to first apply a hair smoothing and grooming product to your hands. Use something that stays soft and pliable and doesn’t dry crunchy. This way it is mistake proof meaning if you can start again if it doesn’t look the way you want. Today’s chignons are slightly on the loose side and a bit messy looking so it is actually preferred if a few pieces are left out. Don’t tuck and pin in every end or it will look old fashioned. Try Tela® Beauty Organics by Philip Pelusi® Composer. This fabulous product contains organic honey for your honeymoon which creates shine and adds tons of moisture.
