Bottega Veneta Foil & Water Snake Messenger Bag

This shoulder style might be mom-ish but the material is definitely unique and modern – it’s cellophane! They are calling it “foil” because it’s metallic but this is not the kitchen foil you bake potatoes with. It’s more like candy wrapper which is then woven in with water snake to create a spectacularly light and never before seen material. As with all Bottega, the material takes center stage since their styles are classic and minimalistic. It is seriously high-tech, I think this is what NASA used to make the lunar module with. Well, without the interwoven snake :). Wouldn’t that be cool if NASA recycled the lunar module and made bags out of it? I will be the first in line for those. Yes, I am actually a nerd at heart! I love the cross body trend but unlike the other Fall bags from BV, this is small and manageable. I’m just not thrilled paying $1450 for a cellophane bag that didn’t even come from space. 1. Great looking bag but at $1500 for cellophane I will pass. There needs to be some relationship between price value and not just brand name mark up. Designers Are becoming very obnoxious about what they think they can pass off at a premium price just because of the name.
