Rachel McAdams x Miu Miu Nappa Clocquet Bag

Is it just me or is a trend developing here? First the Proenza Schouler PS1, then the Mulberry Alexa–and now Miu Miu’s Nappa Clocquet? This handheld bag style with the detachable shoulder strap and two front buckles seems coincidentally popular this spring season. For what it’s worth, though, it is an ingenious style. Miu Miu’s version, with its braided leather handle and ruching effect across the front and back, is quite chic in a subtle way. Rachel McAdams was recently spotted carrying the pale blue version and I do love how pretty that color is in person. If you look at it from afar, the bag almost looks crocheted! I love any form of cornflower blue (the wheat color, I’m not so sure about) so it had me at first glance. The luggage strap side buckles are thin enough to not be too in-your-face but still serve their purpose–although how often you’ll actually buckle and unbuckle the straps remains to be seen.

$2,290, available at select Miu Miu boutiques & miumiu.com

  1. This price point is much too high for Miu Miu, especially considering the PS1 and Alexa price points. I understand the crochet look leather is interesting but not interesting enough to warrant the retail price. My prediction is that this bag will be on the sale rack.

  2. This style of bag is becoming popular, and I don’t get it. I hate the way it gapes open. I understand that it’s because the bag is not buckled. The reason why the bag is not buckled because it’s inconvenient to fool with them everytime you want to get in it.

  3. Besides the rediculous price, the bag is smart and lovely. Briefcase like overtones with a bit of luggage inspired finishes. Apparently any news of a slightly recovering economy means MSRP’s are back to their rediculous antics.
