Louis Vuitton x Bono Charity Bag

Anyone who knows me knows that I am obsessed with Louis Vuitton’s Keepall bag. I have almost every single incarnation of the luggage piece dating back the last decade and, needless to say, they take up quite a bit of space in my closet! But I’m only too happy to add the latest version when it arrives later this fall: Bono and his wife, Ali Hewson, have designed a Keepall style, embossed in monogram canvas, and with an optional special charm dangling off of it (the first time, in fact, that the French brand has had a made-in-Africa product).

Bono totes the bag he helped design in the newest “Core Values” ad campaign, debuting this fall. It’s the first time the U2 front man has appeared in an ad without his band, and the first time a label other than Vuitton is getting a fashion credit. Bono and Hewson emerge from a small airplane in a South African vista–with the tag line “Every journey began in Africa–and donated their fees to appear in the campaign to TechnoServe, a nongovernmental organization that fosters enterprise in the developing world; Conservation Cotton Initiative, which supports sustainable farming in Africa, and Chernobyl Children’s Project International. Proceeds from sales of the co-designed bag will go to TechnoServe and the Cotton Initiative. The retail price has yet to be finalized.
