Natalie Portman in Rodarte

Easily one of 2010’s best red carpet looks, Natalie Portman was a breath of effortless grace attending the Venice Film Festival premiere of “Black Swan.” Portman’s choice of a silk tulle Rodarte gown with Swarovski crystal-encrusted bodice made sense given the fact that the label’s designers, Kate and Laura Mulleavy, designed the costumes she wears in the dark film. This Rodarte gown, which Portman paired with a crisp white Dior Delices clutch, is not trademark Rodarte; it’s very streamlined and simple. In fact, the only traces of signature Rodarte come in the stellar fabric manipulation up by the shoulders and at the waist. Not only is the color impactful, but the way the bodice and halter neckline trace the body is beyond modern but at the same time classic and refined. The crystals peppering the bodice are discreet but add just enough sparkle to draw the eye to the dress’ most intricate component. In a word: perfection.
