Thakoon Spring 2011

Thakoon Panichgul continues to tread lightly, but ever so influentially, with his designs season after season. The same can be said for his shoes, which, while don’t have the buzz factor as, say Nicholas Kirkwood and Rodarte, nevertheless have an elegant appeal. Complementing an utterly gorgeous spring collection of brilliant printed dresses, white Swiss eyelet pieces and metallic blue hues was a capsule collection of fashion-forward heels designed in collaboration with Giuseppe Zanotti that’ll appeal to both the Park Avenue and Perry Street set. I’m loving how the heels, from the front, look deceivingly covered up–save for the peep toe–but when the foot turns, boom! the full foot is exposed and enclosed in suede strips. It’s almost like soft armor for the feet! And how perfectly suited is the solid white heel and the adjustable ankle and foot bridge straps also trimmed in white? A must-have for spring!
