Phillip Lim shoes have never necessarily been trendsetting. Cutting edge, however, is another story. Much like his clothes, Phillip presents an unwavering unique aesthetic when it comes to his art of design. For spring, that look is one that emphasizes the sculptural. The women’s shoes were inspired by the subtle yet monumental work of the Roman sculptor Brancusi. For example, the straight line of the soles are deceptive because the inner sole is curved to contour the foot and be comfortable while on. I adored the t-strap Mary Jane in the rosy pink and black; it’s so sweet! The flat-soled shoes remind me of a nomadic theme–they’re very peaceful and stoic looking…very monk like to a degree.
