Amy Adams is making the red carpet and media rounds for her new film, “The Fighter,” and despite my love for all things Gilles brings us, this J. Mendel Spring 2011 dress on Amy fails to impress. Normally Amy is radiant on the red carpet, especially when she works her red hair with an emerald green dress, but this time? Barf. I don’t know if it’s the fit or where it hits her on the leg, but she looks, well she looks frumpy. The dress defined the model’s waist when it was presented on the runway, but on Amy? Not so much.
I just can’t put my finger on what exactly it is that makes her look frumpy, but it doesn’t matter, because she does. I do love the scarlet red satin Brian Atwood pumps she paired with the dress, but that’s about it.
The problem is that the dress has too much fabric and the hem is wrong. She should stick with Herrera. She also would have looked great in some of the Proenza resort pieces. I think the stylist picked this, because she just had a baby so they thought it would be forgiving, but excess fabric is only flattering on tiny frames. I think she’s gorgeous; just an off choice
