2011 Golden Globes- Top Not So Great Red Carpet Looks

Everyone knows the most important part about the awards show season is getting to see the red carpet fashions. Sure it’s fun to watch the actors interact with each other at these events and to see the pure joy of when they win an award, but blah blah blah it’s really all about the fashion. If you couldn’t sit through hours of Ryan Seacrest repeating the same jokes and questions on E! Live from the Red Carpet, fear not. I have put together my top three not-so-great looks of the evening, because as much fun as it is to look at the pretty ones, it’s even more fun to look at certain pictures and say, “What the what?”

Sure we weren’t expecting Helena Bohnam Carter to show up in a sexy Versace dress or a glamorous Oscar de la Renta ballgown, but what fun would this post be without mentioning the actresses, er, wacky style? This Vivienne Westwood dress is throwing a trillion different kinds of wacky at us. From the halter to the floral print to the tulle over the skirt, I’m pretty sure one of the cast members, er, I mean “designers” on “The Fashion Show” could’ve thrown this together in less than a day. And why on Earth would one want to wear matching shoes when you could easily wear two different colored shoes? The jury is still out on whether they came this way or she just snagged up a pair of satin dyeable’s from her local bridal salon and DIY dyed them herself. Her look is completed with a rat’s nest for hair.

The moment I spotted Halle Berry on the red carpet before the show began, I literally said, “Whoa,” aloud. And not just a subtle under-the-breath “whoa,” but an actual “Whoa!” with an exclamation point. There is no doubt about it, Halle Berry is smoking hot, so naturally she doesn’t make my list because she looks bad. It’s not a meat dress. It’s not swan dress. But let’s face it, it’s not even a dress at all. The other day I was shopping the Victoria’s Secret semi-annual sale and I am pretty sure I tried this dress on. Of course I didn’t buy it because I wasn’t planning on attending the Golden Globes. Sure, Halle looks absolutely fantastic, but I cannot help but feel uncomfortable seeing her in this Nina Ricci Fall 2009 dress. It 100% looks as if she took her black satin teddy and grabbed a piece of chiffon, wrapped it around her waist and called it a day. Am I just jealous or do you feel uncomfortable, too?

Michelle Williams has had some amazing red carpet looks recently, promoting her film “Blue Valentine.” And now I can’t help but think she has used up all her good dresses. The actress wore Valentino Resort 2011. It’s a lovely organza dress with daisies down the straps and on the dress, but is it right for the Golden Globes? When you have people showing up in solid sequins and lingerie, do you really feel like wearing your Easter Sunday dress? I also think she doesn’t feel very confident in it, either. Maybe she felt great until she spotted January Jones’s bubbies and thought to herself, “Well, crap. I didn’t know this was that kind of party or I wouldn’t have worn my picnic dress.”

Honorable Not So Great Looks Mention: Kaley Cuoco for her terrible, terrible “ponytail.” And Justin Bieber for, well, for being Justin Bieber.
