Flats That Stand Up to Stilettos

crystal_slide_thong.jpg

Don’t get me wrong, I love heels. But that love has destroyed my back. And for those who are tired of hearing me complain about my bad back, I am doing you a favor by putting all my favorite flats in one story. But for those who want to commiserate with me, here is a selection of flats that will reassure you that we, flats wearers, have not been left behind. I am leaving out ballet flats since they’re a dime a dozen, literally. We all have them and have our own favorites. These sandals are for dressing up – outfits that you would normally wear fabulous heels with.

There are those (Tina) who do not believe in spending more than the cost of Havaianas flip flops on flats.  But why would having an actual heel on the shoe make it worth more?  These Rene Caovilla Crystal Slide Thong Sandal has all the razzle dazzle of any of her glitz filled shoe.  For $1095.

These are not flip flops. The Alexander McQueen Skull-Embellished Leather Sandals in gold leather has a slight 1″ heel to give it some formality and with that skull embellishment, you clearly care about style over function. For $495.

These Valentino Studded Sandals are so beyond incredible.  I have studded sandals from Cesare Paciotti that I wear with edgy dresses and skinny jeans.  These are a bit more refined so will go with your best looks of the season.  For $595.

  1. I have a deep love for Chloe shoes – I love them more than their handbags! I also really love the Valentino studded sandals. Great post.

  2. This is a great post! I know that you said that you would not write about ballet flats, but would you consider a post about flats that are appropriate for cooler weather? As much as I *love* heels, I am also a mom of two kids under 2 and higher shoes are relegated to date night. I still want to look good at the playground and around the city. Could you please save me some time (see mom of 2 under 2) and use your great taste to ferret out more flats? Love, love, LOVE your blog!

  3. I love all your choices. Glam flats are now what I’m eyeing for Summer! Would love to see your fave low-heel Espadrilles!

  4. What a great post – I am always looking for fab flat sandals to not tower over my hubby and absolutely for comfort too! Do you have any other ideas?!

  5. I’m so glad you like features on flats!! I will definitely keep more coming then, esp in the summer. I have 2 small tots too so I hear you! It’s exhausting enough in flats, heels on the go with them are completely out of the question for me.

PS: Espadrilles hold a special place in my heart so you will get those soon for sure =)
