“A loitering presence.” That was how Phillip Lim described his fall collection. In such a simple term, it would be easy to miss the intricate navigation of his collection, which had true global appeal. Draped flyaway jackets, roomy and voluminous pants and shorts and a whole look that was essential utility, graced the runway, in a vibe that Lim characterized as “the girl who rides her bike everywhere.” Lim is never one to fully embrace trends; rather, he skims the edge in creative pursuit. To wit, note the juxtaposition of materials and the incorporation of a Japanese yakuza tattoo print. The patent pieces were among his most standpoint in this collection. Broken down, the collection had plenty of one-on-one appeal, but either way, the Phillip Lim girl will undoubtedly make her own mark with these streamlined clothes.
