Burberry Prorsum Fall 2011 Review

While the ready-to-wear had the critics drawing mixed reviews, Christopher Bailey’s fall bags at Burberry Prorsum were whimsically beautiful. The bowling bag was the clear standout style, with an alligator trimmed landscape version drawing top remarks for its English men’s shoe inspired details (note the two large tassels). The oversized yet simple tassels add a touch to the collection that was needed to make it fresh and modern. I particularly love it in the black-and-white plaid version and the tomato red; they have a young, authentic feel to them that will undoubtedly make them popular with all the “It girls” come fall. The larger, more oversized bowling bag is great for work; the long shape is plenty roomy while its trim overall shape makes it sleek enough for the boardroom. For weekends and evening’s out, Bailey sent out two clutch choices: a ribbed quilting boxed bag that is reminiscent of his past trenchcoat styles and a soft tassel alligator clutch that is casual yet decadent.
