There are days when I stare at my closet and have no idea what to wear. Days when I need to go from school meetings to social events without missing a beat– I can’t be over dressed for a teacher’s conference but need to look my fashionable best at a luncheon. So what fills the gap between conservative jackets and over the top Roland Mouret dresses? Holmes & Yang, that’s what.
The collection is stylish without pretensions and easy to mix with everything in your closet. The must have pieces in the line include the Petal blouse ($715 above left) that looks amazing with both jeans and the Secretary skirt ($1,250 above right)– or what Katie calls the “Husband getter/Husband keeper” skirt. The skirt has a leather waistband and built in “reinforcement” so you can leave your spanx at home. Spanx are great and all but they leave embarrassing tell tale lines and ridges on the skin when you take them off. This skirt will save you all from that, trust me on this!
Another must have is the effortless camper dress ($945 below left)– it’s a basic you can pull on without thought and change up with accessories or layer under jackets. The Dancer jacket in luxe suede ($2,500) has a sprinkle of studs along the interior border to help keep its shape (not unlike the chains in Chanel jackets). Everything in the collection is well thought out and road tested by both Katie Holmes and Jeanne Yang (long time celeb stylist who considers herself a professional shopper– from Shanghai to Milan and everything between, she has literally seen it all!).
