Peter Som Fall 2011

Inspired by artist Cindy Sherman’s Untitled Film Stills, Peter Som played with the idea of perception–what you see isn’t always what you get, and vice versa–for fall. What you could see immediately was a more mature, grown up Peter. All the traditional sportswear motifs were there–note the navy wool twill peacoat backed with some seriously decadent fox fur that was a luxe theme throughout the show. Accompanied by kitten heels in a unique orange-and-green combo designed by Charlotte Olympia, the garments were feminized. Real clothes? The jackets, tailored peplum waists and ruffled dresses seemed to suggest that. A cobalt blue fully-sequined crew-neck gown that closed the show was a true jawdropper. As for the mink-lined parka? Practical, yes. Affordable? We’ll let you be the judge of that one.
