New “Super” Products Launch

I’m not one to take dietary supplements aside from Vitamin D and calcium (and even calcium I’m told by my DR is controversial as to whether it actually has any effect when taken as a supplement), add to that, that I’m not a meat-lover and have a raging sweet-tooth and it becomes clear why I need to pay attention to make sure I’m getting what I need from what I eat! I’m fascinated by Dr. Perricone’s knowledge of superfoods and reading about how what we eat not only effects our waistline, but also our skin, our mood, etc. Dr. Perricone has a pretty useful shopping list and last fall he took his knowledge of superfoods and the concept of its powerful antioxidant potency to develop a “Super” line. I’m a total believer in beauty from the inside-out and the positive synergistic effect of eating healthfully, taking care of skin topically, and focusing on having a positive outlook (easier said then done, I know!), so I thought the concept of this line was intriguing. Dr. Perricone just launched two new additions. Jump to read about them!

The first is Super by Dr. Nicholas Perricone Daylight Savings SPF 25 Moisturizer

($38), which makes use of the anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric

to help heal sun-damaged skin (thanks to an antioxidant called curcumin

which is found in turmeric), while also preventing new damage (though note that the SPF is only 25), and the second is Super by Dr. Nicholas Perricone First Blush Brightening Serum

($48). The serum is formulated with, among other things, a melon

extract rich in superoxide dismutase, which they say protects cellular

integrity. I didn’t love the smell of the serum (reminded me of melon sorbet), but I imagine that many people would be fine with it. It’s also worth noting that the serum is a tad sticky and you’ll definitely need to moiturize after applying it, which is one of the reasons these products work well together. The serum also dries matte, while the SPF gives a slight glow so even if you use both you won’t look like you just lathered on layers of lotions and potions.

DO YOU LOVE IT OR HATE IT?

  1. I love the SUPER line! Everything smells delicious and I’m a big believer in “you are, what you eat” or in this case “your skin is what you eat” 😛

Have you tried the Yes to Blueberries line? I swear by that stuff 😀

  2. Yes! That’s one of my fave drugstore lines! The whole “Yes to”…Carrots, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Blueberries…they’re all awesome:)
