Delvaux “Givry” Shoulder Bag: La Dolce Delvaux

When you carry a Delvaux, you are not flaunting the fact that you’re carrying a high-end designer (like interlocking-Cs or boldface “Y”). Delvaux is understated chic at its very best -only the insiders will know the house behind your bag, but the quality will be recognized. Their supple leathers and rich suedes are rivaled only by Hermès, and you know that’s a statement I don’t just throw around!

I played with the “Givry” bags for a solid 30 minutes at Barneys, turning the lush suede chestnut and jet “Basane” leather shoulder bags inside out and inspecting the seams, the corners, and construction. I carried them on my shoulder and as a crossbody – you’d be surprised how easily they switch over sans fuss – and found the loop fastening is actually a magnetic closure that opens easily. I could not find a single thing wrong with these bags. Immaculate on your shoulder (or slung across your body) and immaculately made, this is an investment bag worthy of the modern snob. At Barneys New York for $1,850.

Pair with: A suede bag asks you to emulate easy bohemian style. A.L.C.‘s “Frida” tiered stretch-knit white maxi skirt is just the thing for the quietly elegant snob who doesn’t need to show off. On Net-a-Porter for $395.

  1. I have been eyeing this beauty for a while now, but the all leather version! Really love the bone color, but am so worried about maintenance of it. Will probably go with the black though.

  2. I bought this bag at the Delvaux store when it was still open on Sunset Boulevard. My bag is a little larger than the one at Barneys. It is a great bag that is 15 years old and still looks great. Their bags are impeccably made!

  3. Michelle, thanks for the testimonial! I’m sure everyone who was on the fence will now jump and commit. Wonder how much you paid for it 15 years ago… 😉 xoxo Tina
