Edible Beauty: Juara

I stopped by The Plaza Beauty section in the underground mall at The Plaza Hotel last week and was completely floored at how much has changed down there! The last time I stopped by was for the opening party of Todd English’s Food Hall (amazing by the way for a post-shopping pick-me-up), and that was nearly a year ago. The beauty section used to be a tiny little area in the back, but they’ve now got a bunch of counters showcasing brands you’re likely familiar with like Jemma Kidd and TOCCA and some you’ve likely never heard of like Juara.

When I stopped by the Juara counter literally the first thing I said was “these products look edible” — turns out they are! Not that you’d want to eat them of course, but they’re actually natural enough that you could. The reason they look edible, especially the Avocado Banana Moisture Mask ($37) which has this awesome pastel green hue (think a pistachio French macaroon), is that most of the products are made with fruits, spices, and other foods that have been used in traditional Indonesian beauty rituals for centuries. The product that really caught my eye (or nose rather), was the Invigorating Coffee Scrub ($37). I’ve been seeing coffee a lot in eye and anti-cellulite creams because, as a stimulant, it’s supposed to aid in increasing circulation and be good for de-puffing. In all of the products I’ve seen/tried however I’ve never noticed much of a discernible coffee smell, but smelling this Juara scrub is seriously like putting your nose in a cup of espresso, it’s that strong! I rarely drink coffee nowadays so this completely woke up my senses and I imagine it would be great for a morning shower.

Juara’s line is fairly extensive and you can check it out here.

DO YOU LOVE IT OR HATE IT?

  1. I’ve been reading up a lot on coffee ingredients as well! Would love to use the coffee scrub in the morning to get my blood pumping! Love the ingredients in these too… Big believer in you are what you eat, which is why I love using Yes to Carrots and Korres products 😛
