Mother “The Drama” High-Rise Wide-Leg Jeans: Not Your Momma’s Jeans

New label Mother has just blown all other seventies-influenced denim brands out of the water. MiH, Textile Elizabeth and James, and J.Brand flares don’t have the perfectly high-waisted and not-too-belled allure of Mother’s slightly washed-out “Forever Blue” rinse, the perfect style and shade of denim for summer. A lightweight stretch keeps everything snug, while side welt pockets ensure no unflattering bunch-ups (too much pocket fabric is the worst!). These are the best retro jeans ever! Add a pair of cork wedge platforms, and I’ll feel like I’m John Travolta’s girlfriend on “Welcome Back, Kotter.” Looks like I’m going to have a super seventies summer! On Net-a-Porter for $220.

I tried these jeans on at Bergdorf Goodman this week during their Jean Sequence event– check out details here or go in to try for yourself. If you log in with Four Square you get free tailoring!

Pair with: Keep it casual yet slightly structured with a loose button-down shirt. A soft plaid is playfully retro, like the “Boyfriend” shirt by Maison Scotch. On ShopBop for $96.

  1. Tina, because I trust your taste, I ordered these jeans and they are totally fabulous on. I ordered them in my true jean size, and they fit beautifully. I am tall but I still need to shorten them an inch but who cares…

I do feel like I am a teenager in the 80′s again with these retro jeans and my Louis Vuitton espadrilles (although I didn’t wear LV espadrilles as a teen.)

Thanks for introducing me to these killer jeans…
