David & Scotti is a new label out of Florence, where all the best bags are made (nothing like Italian leather!), and they had me at this handbag. I’m a sucker for the frame style – I worship anything that exudes ladylike elegance and more so, anything that captures the glamour of Hollywood’s golden era, a fantasy I’m eternally trying to fulfill.
But I digress. This leather version is a modern take, for sure, in the exaggerated coin purse shape (love it!), the slick stretch of hardware, and most importantly, the tight weave. The result of the triple-threat combination is a refreshing surprise.
Not only is it fun to find these smaller, lesser-known designers and see the exciting things they’re doing, David & Scotti’s price tag is pleasingly moderate. While I wouldn’t expect to pay any more for a small label, the quality and detail seems to warrant an above-average price point. On Forzieri for $694.
Pair with: Fendi’s wrapped and stacked platform sandal has “vintage Hollywood” written all over it, thanks to the peep-toe and wide bands of knotted leather. At Barneys New York for $835.
