Ellis Faas Skin Veil

What a perfect name for a liquid foundation, Skin Veil. I mean how many foundations have we all tried that feel like they’re just sitting on our face like a mask? My go-to is Sensai Fluid Finish — it’s just awesome and they’ve got a shade, Natural Beige, that does a perfect color-matching job with my skin — but Skin Veil comes in a close second and that’s only because the shade I tried didn’t match my skin as perfectly as Sensai’s does. The Faas formualtion is super-soft (especially when worn over primer), and it has SPF 15 in it. It now comes in both a 30ml bottle or a pen (same packaging as the Eye Lights). I like the pen because I can take it with me when I go out for the day/night (before getting this pen I never took liquid foundation out with me…too bulky and prone to spilling and cracking). The brush on the pen also has a perfect density and the bristles feel nice against my skin. That said while it’s awesome to have a compact wand with a built-in brush, it’s kind of hard to clean the brush (I’m worried about soap getting into the foundation) and also somehow I always end up turning the pen too much and ending up with a truckload of foundation dripping from the brush (ie a total waste of precious fluid! I should get better at this with “practice”…). Each pen does come with two “foundation cartridges” so in between them you can easily clean the pen, so I guess it all depends on how obsessive you are about cleaning your brushes…

The foundation comes in eight shades and if you find one that matches your skintone, I’d highly recommend the formulation. It’s smooth, moisturizing, protects against the sun, and allows for buildable coverage.

  1. I have the milky eyes, lips, and blush. Every single time I’m carefully clicking – nothing. One last click – product comes gushing out!! Honestly, I don’t know if it’s me or the pen. That aside, great products and really nice colors.

  2. That’s exactly what happens to me! Glad I’m not the only one. It’s also a bit annoying because it then dries up and you have to remove the dried up liquid from the brush next time you use it. I also feel like I sometimes end up putting too much on my face because so much gushes out and that’s a problem especially with the Eye Lights because the excess ends up irritating my eye lids. It’s a little glitch they def should work out because their products are great.
