Janina “Tatjana” Clutches: Janina Debuts with Flying Colors

I have found my fun evening clutch! Designer Janina is a jewel designer who, lucky for us, decided to branch out to bags. Naturally, she started with the most jewelry-like of purses, the clutch. Her new line of color-blocked, stingray clutches called the “Tatjana,” named after Janina’s playful, young daughter. And playful they are!

A small clutch (8″ x 5″) just for the essentials, it packs a punch more powerful than bags five times its size. A total stunner in stingray and in Janina’s rainbow-variety of candy color combos and shades of neutral, these bags are a good kind of distraction. The tab closure does take a couple of seconds to loop in but this is not a nonchalant casual clutch so high maintenance is to be expected.

I’m obsessed the color blocking (yellow flap with blue is my new love), but the moss green with brown is subdued and gorgeous for a more serious look. The pink and black is for a real life, grown up Barbie! So fab I can’t stand it! All of her bags have a three-pointer brilliant-cut diamond placed somewhere on the bag – some are on the flap and some are on the inside (that is the ultimate snob detail!).

Have your own tonal vision in mind? Her bespoke service allows you to mix and match your choice of skins (stingray, alligator, python or water snake), colors, and diamond placement. It takes 3 months – well worth the wait for a one-of-kind clutch. Color yourself surprised. You will not believe the price: these clutches start at $650, depending on the skin; stingray goes for $788. To order visit http://janinadizon.com/2010C/ or e-mail Janina.

You can find these in the night markets of Thailand for dirt cheap.

  5. It reminds me of the Oberon covers for journals/kindles/iPads. I wouldn’t pay this much for this clutch.
