Guerlain Abeille Royale Youth Serum: The Floral Fountain of Youth

guerlaine_jelly.jpg

Guerlain always felt like an old lady brand to me, so it seems fitting that their anti-aging products are superior. How equally fitting that they call their latest firming and wrinkle-correcting product a youth serum – I like the sound of that!

Abeille Royale Youth Serum uses bee products (Quessant honey) and French royal jelly to counter the aging process by aiding the skin’s ability to heal the tiny tears that cause wrinkles. By repairing from the inside out, skin gets firmer, smoother, and less prone to those age lines we all detest.

This serum is liquid gold and just a dab will do for your whole face. The dispenser is a super fancy eyedropper. You just push the top of the cap to get the product into the dropper and then easily apply the little you need. You feel your skin tighten with just a few applications. They suggest using it for three months to get maximum results, but I tried it for just a week and felt like it was already doing its magic.

The only problem for me: I’m not a heavy fragrance lover. The scent is lovely, but like I alluded to at the start, a bit old lady-ish – very floral and fragrant. It’s not bad, but it is definitely a certain style product made for a specific clientele. I was put off by the heavy bouquet, but my mom uses it religiously and her skin is definitely more luminous and tighter than when I last saw her – and that’s saying something for a woman in her seventies. At least I’ll know where to turn when I need serious anti-aging products. And maybe by then I will love super floral scents. At Sephora for $140.
